Animate Pictures in Profiles

It is wonderful to see these posts which increases our knowledge of islam like the one by hayat_yahya, abu abdillah and others

I just want to ask that why are we using pictures of living beings as our profile picture ?

Isnt this what our prophet preached against ??

Similarly the emoticons which we are using in our posts, arent those haraam ?

there are lots of hadiths against making and using pictures of living beings which everyone are familiar with. Then why are we using it ??

My sincere appeal to all of you --

Please remove the profile pics depicting living beings

Please remove the emoticons from the site.

infact,the question regarding usage of emoticons has been in mind for quite some time now...alhamdulilah,you addressed the issue....

i'm not stating whether it's haram or halal...
these emoticons contain pictures of people...and my question is when we use them aren't we drawing them...

i used to use a lot of emoticons when i just joined tti,then gradually i started thinking if it was right or wrong...

members may use it not knowing the sin involved(if it is not allowed)...
