another reminder to myself

a few days ago, while driving i had a close call. a car; traveling at a high speed nearly hit me. it was coming at such a high speed, that i am convinced that had it hit me; i may have lost my life. this close call caused me to reflect upon death. would i have been ready to meet my creator ALLAH SWT ? i thought about it long and hard. i realized that i always need to think about death very seriously. had i made taubah to ALLAH SWT? was i faithful to making salah? was i doing everything in my power to please ALLAH SWT? for a good muslim, these questions are always on their minds. but what if i weren’t a serious muslim or a non-muslim for that matter?

what if i had went out for a night of drinking? what if i was on my way to commit zinaa or returning from committing zinaa? what if i died reading a dirty magazine, when i should’ve been reading verses from the quran? i raise these questions because there are many people dying each day, while having done these things. they are people that are not going to be able to repent before ALLAH SWT because it’s too late now. this should be our inspiration to make right with ALLAH SWT and repent and do good deeds.

we must keep in mind that somebody that is alive tonight, may not make it to see the morning; and that somebody that is alive in the morning may not make it to see the night. i remind myself before reminding anybody else.

i was really scared when it happened. i began to think about those people that weren't that fortunate; those that actually died in car crashes. they didn't even know what had hit them because they died so fast. so i always have to be mindful of these things. i definitely know the feeling, but i think your airplane experience is much more scarier than mine. Alhamdulillah you made it out okay.:)

Asalama aleikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu bro just want to add this Narrated Mujahid: 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "Allah's Apostle took hold of my shoulder and said, 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler.'" The sub-narrator added: Ibn 'Umar used to say, "If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death." Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 425

that's a deep hadith. we never really realize how much we take this life for granted.
