Any Sisters and Brothers in London to help quash Anti-Islamic Urban Legend?

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the UK,

There is a nasty email circulating in the US which is trying to portray Islam as a violent religion. They are using photos from an old angry rally in London outside the Danish Embassy from a couple of years ago, a reaction to the terrible cartoons depicting our Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him. They are saying that these photos (which have very angry statements on banners) are from a recent "Religion of Peace Demonstration". Of course, this is untrue but clever enough to fool non-Muslims into believing that Muslims are violent, hateful people. It is such a shame to think someone would waste their energy concocting these things but it happens all the time. I was trying to find true photos from such an Islamic peaceful demonstration in London on line to counteract this false email and wondered if anyone could direct me?

Any time I receive an email trying to slander Islam or Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, I try to respond with evidence to the contrary.

Jazak Allahu Khair.

This is why, as part of my school's character education program, we talk to students about being careful about what they say and do - you never know when it will come back to haunt you. Unfortunately, the people in those pictures did not take care with what they said and did, and now it is being used against all Muslims. Every Muslim is a mirror of Islam, no matter how good or bad of a Muslim they are.

Hopefully, we can all learn from this and know that when action needs to be taken, one must be careful to be sure that every action is being watched. Politicians learn this very early in their career, or they would never get elected! LOL!

Sisters I hope you will find this piece of information both interesting and shocking at the same time. The post below is an excerpt from the book called MUHAMMAD by Karen Armstrong, I have read this chapter of the book till the end and believe me it is too much.

I actually own the book you mentioned and read it several years ago. I re-read the chapter you indicated and am a bit confused by what you mean by putting the link here. Could you please clarify your opinion?

Personally, I think Karen Armstrong is probably the best non-religious writer of books about religion for people who may or may not be religious themselves (although, I would say that it seems that Christians tend to get more upset with her writings than any other religion).

I was quite impressed by some of Karen Armstrong's videos on youtube, she seems to talk about Islam with great passion and respect. Maybe, she will be a Muslim too one day, Insha Allah. I have not read the book referenced, however. She has gone from being a Catholic to describing herself as a "monotheist" and does not doubt that the revelation of the Qur'an is divine, from what I have seen of her interviews.

JazakiAllah sister for keeping good faith in me. I too felt after posting the link that it might look offtrack here but basically my intention simply was to show that no matter how hard we try to satisfy them it is a tough job to accomplish particularly those who have decided not to accept or understand us. I was shocked to read passages like this from her book,
During the hierarchically minded middle ages, some critics of Islam had blamed Muhammad for giving too much power to menials, like slaves and women.
Are these the same people who tell us about freedom and rights.
Anyways I am not trying to support some fanatic act through this but just trying to present the other side of the coin. You keep up your good work of telling the truth about Islam. May Allah reward you.

Assalamu alaikom, Brother. I now understand why you posted this, it was not against Karen Armstrong's views but some of the neverending history of Islam, our misunderstood religion, that some will always choose to talk badly about, no matter what. Jazak Allahu Khair.
