In Rome, the holiday is known as Festival of Hilaria, celebrating the resurrection of the god Attis, is on March 25 and is also referred to as "Roman Laughing Day."

God Attis in ancient Greek represents the fruits of the earth, which die in winter only to rise again in the spring.

Hilaria may be source for English word hilarious?

In most of Western countries it is now known as day when people are joking but for Islamic perpective we can also see it as day when people in ancient times worshipped pagan god.

We may judge it at all or just be happy that winter is over.
