As'alaamu Alaikkum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu
Muhsin Khan
We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions).
To really understand the Holy Qur'an with it's deeper meanings one must learn the Arabic language. The Holy Qur'an has been preserved without any errors or corruption within this language. Therefore, it is the duty of all Muslims to learn the Arabic language so that we can read the Holy Qur'an on a daily basis and understand it and reflect upon the words of Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala. However, the vast majority of Muslims do not know the Arabic language. Why not?
Today most muslims worship Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala by action only. What I mean by this is that most worshippers come to the masjid and just do the actions of ruku, sujud etc. How do I know, you may ask because whilst praying one is supposed to lightly utter the prayers (not loud but only he can hear) and most do not do this.
As far as I am aware, it is every Muslims duty to learn the Arabic language, so why aren't they learning? I know that most are taught how to read and write when they are young but they do not keep up and lose what they have learnt.
What is the answer? Are ALL muslims supposed to learn Arabic? Or can they meander through life without it?
