:salam2: Brother, yes, that is exactly who is reference when it is mentioned....many times over. Unfortunatly, the Books <Torah and Bible> have been altered by man to make it so different from the original that the original words are lost and so Islam teaches that Allah sent down the Angel Gabriel <I'm sorry, if I got the name incorrect> to Mohammad to deliver the Qur'an with the word "Recite! Recite! Recite!". Mohammad was illeterate and so the companions are the ones who transcribed what Mohammad was taught.
To all the members, PLEASE!!!!! Correct me if I have mistaken anything. It was not intentional but it is how I understand such a complex series of events. I beg your forgiveness if I was wrong in any of the facts.

I encourage you to pay attention to his posts because he always has links to PDF's that are wonderful and filled with knowledge from the scholars of Islam. They are great to learn from!! Start with the basics and you will learn faster than your mind can come up with questions for.
