:salam2:

I hope this post finds everyone in the best of iman and health inshaAllah.

We are having a conference in our city in a few months,it will be truly appreciated if some of you people contributed with articles and other literature on education and knowledge.

The conference will be having students undergoing secular education and madrasa inshaAllah. So as to provide a platform for muslims to amalgamate the duo.Since nowadays most of the education in my part of the world is secular and somewhere the akhlaq of seeking knowledge in the hearts of muslims is lost and the thirst for knowledge we had has been lost.

We need a few articles, writings, literature etc on the importance of education in Islam and the manner of seeking knowledge and the way and anything related to knowledge or education in Islam.

:jazaak:

May Allah reward everyone immensely.Ameen.

Edit: here's the website for the event inshaAllah http://educationalconference.blogspot.com/

As salam alaikum,

You have touched :Achiles heel". If anything has made muslims vulnerable towards western world is this. Having left behind the thirst for knowledge, the seccular superseeded us in scientific evolution, even it was muslim world that opened the doors to it in first place. Than scientific evolution caused disrepancy of economical power, that ultimately brought the state we are in so long... We need to get out of it. For the sake of the One who owns the truth, and bestows His bounties endlessly to His devotees... For one thing, knowledge acquired by believers is beneficial for entire humanity. Not the same coming from seccular education... My one cent...

Wa alaikumassalaam warahmatullah,
First of all :jazaak: fr your response and views.Alhamdulillah!
I agree with you that it is knowledge and thirst for it, that we should have held on to.We need knowledge.Knowledge is light.Hedonism and thirst of money bought our ruin.I have heard Prophet :saw: hadith whose mahfoom was that every nation had a fitnah and the fitnah of this nation is wealth. That is what we seem to be after rather than knowledge.
Thank you for your views.Allah bless you.Ameen

As salam alaikum,

Jazak Allahu khairan. Our slip from knowledge start long before hedonism was ever known in world let alone in muslim world - it started in 1500 s to todays date. And also is not the thirst for money. We were well in good shape, until western world started tickling us, and we liked it, started to love their ways, abandoned the strugle for Allah (which is the seeking of knowledge), started to dislike each-other, and slowly but surely our own achievements were taken by west, owned, used, propagated, and further they were the only owners of knowledge. All muslim treasure was hiden, ignored not mentioned. Publicity matters, and muslims are modest in very nature. This somehow was gone to their disadvantage. Intimidation at begining, maybe discouragement latter, further wars, emergency of survival and now faced with profitable nature of knowledge (which ruins the very essence of true knowledge), have done their work. We need to start from somewhere. And the best point is identifying properly the true reasons of this state , and then healing. Neither hedonism, nor thirst for money are true. These are bad propaganda within ourselves that is not going to help started in first place. I would call it a second cent in the matter.

We salam alaikum

Sayings: Learning -- Prayer

* Learning

He dieth not who giveth life to learning.

Whoso honoreth the learned, honoreth me.

The Messenger of God was asked, "What is the greatest vice of man?" He said, "You must not ask me about vice, but ask about virtue;" and he repeated this three times, after which he said, "Know ye! The worst of men is a bad learned man, and a good learned man is the best."

Verily god doth not taketh away knowledge from the hands of His servants; but taketh it by taking away the learned; so that when no learned men remain, the ignorant will be placed at the head of affairs. Causes will be submitted to their decision, they will pass sentence without knowledge, will err themselves, and lead others into error.

An hour's contemplation is better than a year's adoration.

Philosophy is the stray camel of the Faithful, take hold of it wherever ye come across it.

Go in quest of knowledge even unto China.

Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.

The knowledge from which no benefit is derived is like a treasure from which no charity is bestowed in the way of the Lord.

Do you know what sappeth the foundation of Islam, and ruineth it? The errors of the learned destroy it, the disputations of the hypocrite, and the orders of kings who have lost the road.

To spend more time in learning is better than spending more time praying; the support of religion is abstinence. It is better to teach knowledge one hour in the night than to pray all night.

Whoever seeketh knowledge and findeth it, will get two rewards; one of them the reward for desiring it, and the other for attaining it; therefore, even if he do not attain it, for him is one reward.

That person who shall die while he is studying, in order to revive the knowledge of religion, will be only one degree inferior to the prophets.

One learned man is harder on the devil than a thousand ignorant worshippers.

The pursuit of knowledge is a divine commandment for every Muslim; and to waste knowledge on those who are unworthy of it is like putting pearls, jewels, and gold on the necks of swine.

That person who shall pursue the path of knowledge, God will direct him to the path of Paradise; and verily the superiority of a learned man over an ignorant worshipper is like that of the full moon over all the stars.

He who knoweth his own self, knoweth God.

Verily the best of God's servants are just and learned kings; and verily the worst are bad and ignorant kings.

To listen to the words of the learned, and to instil into others the lessons of science, is better than religious exercises.

The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr.

He who leaveth home in search of knowledge, walketh in the path of God.

One hour's meditation on the work of the Creator is better than seventy years of prayer.

God hath treasuries beneath the Throne, the keys whereof are the tongues of poets.

The acquisition of knowledge is a duty incumbent one every Muslim, male and female.

Acquire knowledge. It enableth its posessor to distinguish right from wrong; it lighteth the way to Heave; it is our friend in the desert, our society in solitude, our companion when friendless; it guideth us to happiness; it sustaineth us in misery; it is an ornament among friends, and an armour against enemies.

With knowledge man riseth to the heights of goodness and to a noble position, associateth with sovereigns in this world, and attaineth to the perfection of happiness in the next.

Learn to know thyself.

The calamity of knowledge is forgetfulness; and to waste knowledge is to speak of it to the unworthy.

Who are the learned? They who practise what they know.

* Man's Growth

The son of Man groweth and with him grow two things - the love of wealth and love of long life.

"Who is the best man?" Muhammad replied, "He is the best man whose life is long and whose actions are good." "Then who is the worst man?" "He whose life is long and whose actions are bad.

* Marriage

Marriage is incumbent on all who possess the ability.

A woman may be married by four qualifications: one on account of her money; another, on account of the nobility of her pedigree; another on account of her beauty; the fourth, on account of her virtue. Therefore, look out for a woman that hath virtue: but if you do it from any other consideration, your hands be rubbed in dirt.

I and a woman whose color and cheeks shall have become black from toiling in the sun shall be near to one another in the next world as my two fingers; and that is a handsome widow, whose color and cheeks shall have become black in bringing up her family.

* Muhammad The Prophet

I am no more than man; when I order you anything respecting religion, receive it; and when I order you anything about the affairs of the world, then I am nothing more than man.

Convey to other persons none of my words, except those ye know of a surety.

'Aishah said, "A party of Jews asked permission to go to Muhammad, and said, 'Death upon you.' And I answered their insult by saying, 'Rather upon you be death and curse.' Then Muhammad said, 'Be mild O Aishah! and make a point of being kind, and withold thyself from speaking harshly.' I said, 'Did you not hear what they said?' He said, 'Verily, I do always say,' "Be the same to you."'

Verily my heart is veiled with melancholy and sadness for my followers; and verily I ask pardon of God one hundred times daily.

The Apostle was in the midst of a crowd of his companions, and a camel came and prostrated itself before him. They said, "O Apostle of God! Beasts and trees worship thee; then it is meet for us to whorship thee." Muhammad said, "Worship God, and you may honor your brother, that is me."

When the ambassadors of Bani Amir went to Muhammad, they said, "You are our master." He said, "God is your master." Then they said, "You are most excellent of the highest degree." And when He heard this He said, "Say so, or less, and do not exceed reasonable bounds in praise."

Muhammad slep upon a mat, and got up very marked on the body by it: and someone said, "O Messenger of God! If thou hadst ordered me, I would have spread a soft bed for thee." Muhammad used to say after making the profession of faith, "O Lord I supplicate Thee for firmness in faith, and inclination towards the straight path, and for Thine aid in being grateful to Thee, and in adoring Thee in every good way; and I supplicate Thee for an innocent heart which shall not incline to wickednes and for a true tongue. I supplicate Thee to guide me to all which Thou knowest to be virtuous and to preserve me from al which Thou knowest to be vicious. I supplicate Thee to forgive me my faults for Thou knowest them all.

When the Messenger of God entered a place of worship he said, "O God! Pardon my sins, and open for me the gates of Thy compassion," and on leaving he would repeat the same.

O Lord grant to me the love of Thee; grant that I love those that love Thee; grant that I may do the deed than win Thy love; make thy love dearer to me than self, family and wealth.

O Lord! I make my complaint unto thee, of my feebleness, the vanity of my efforts. I am insignificant in the sight of men, O Thou Most Merciful! Lord of the weak! Thou aret my Lord! Forsake me not. Leave me not a prey to strangers, nor to mine enemies. If Thou art not displeased, I am safe. Seeking Knowledge - The Way to Paradise

By Habib Ahmad

"Allah will exalt those who believe among you, and those who have been granted knowledge to high ranks."

(Qur'an)

"Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim (male and female)." (Hadith)

THE VIRTUES OF KNOWLEDGE

Allah (Most Exalted is He), Who created us and gave us sustenance, has also given us guidance. He said:

"Verily We have created man into toil and struggle… Have We not made for him a pair of eyes; and a tongue, and a pair of lips; and shown him the two ways (obedience and disobedience)?"

(Qur'an, Al-Balad 90:4-10)

After providing us with the capability to contemplate, think and differentiate between things, He instructed us to know Him, to know his Prophets and to know His Deen, Islam. He said:

"So know that there is no god save Allah, ask forgiveness for your sins and for the believing men and the believing women. Allah knows well your moving and your place of rest."

(Qur'an, Muhammad 47:19)

This verse shows the importance of knowledge and the virtues that Allah has given to it. It also shows that knowledge comes before deeds, since Allah instructed His Prophet to know that He is One and the only One worthy of worship. After that, He commanded him to ask forgiveness for himself, his family and for his Ummah.

If Muslims truly realise the importance Islam places on knowledge and its virtues, they will definitely be keen to learn and teach others. They would start with themselves and their families; then their neighbours and the community at large. Once Mu'awiyah Ibn Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her) gave a sermon in which he said, "I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, he makes him very knowledgeable in the Deen." (Related by Bukhari and Muslim)

This is because knowledge is the basis of all good; it generates actions that are based on the commandments of Allah and the instructions of the Prophet . Hence, every Muslim must instil in his mind a desire to seek knowledge. Allah (Most Exalted is He) instructed His Prophet -- and thus all Muslims -- to ask Allah to increase him in knowledge. He said:

"And say: My Lord increase me in knowledge."

(Qur'an, Ta-Ha 20:114)

Though, initially, all Muslims are equal in the sight of Allah, those who believe, have taqwah (fear of Allah and righteousness), and have been granted knowledge move up to higher ranks. Allah says about those who have taqwah:

"Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is he who has most taqwah."

(Qur'an, Al-Hujurat 49:13)

And He said about those who believed and acquired knowledge:

"Allah will raise up, to (suitable) ranks and (degrees), those of you who believe and who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is well-acquainted with all you do."

(Qur'an, Al-Mujadilah 58:11)

When a servant of Allah is granted knowledge, he appreciates Allah's creation more, and becomes more acquainted with Allah's attributes and qualities. Consequently, he wholeheartedly witnesses that his Creator is the only one worthy of worship, and then submits to Him humbly. This, in return, generates in his heart a fear, which is akin to a full appreciation and love of His Lord. Allah (Most Exalted is He) has witnessed in favour of His learned servants these qualities, full appreciation of His Oneness and fear of Him. He stated in two verses, to be recited until Doomsday:

"There is no one worthy of worship but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels and those endowed with knowledge, Standing firm in Justice (or maintaining His Creation in Justice). There is no god but He, the Exalted in power, the Wise."

(Qur'an, Al-'Imran 3:18)

"It is only those who have knowledge among His servants that fear Allah."

(Qur'an, Fatir 35:28)

The Messenger of Allah gave glad tidings to anyone who undertakes the task of seeking knowledge. Abu Hurayrah relates that the Prophet said, "For him who embarks on the path of seeking knowledge, Allah will ease for him the way to paradise." (Related by Muslim) If no Hadith on the importance of knowledge besides this one had been uttered by the Prophet , it would have been enough for Muslims. Yet the Prophet did more than that:

He used to stimulate his companions to seek knowledge: Ibn Mas'ud relates that the Prophet said, "Only two persons are worthy of being envied; a person upon whom Allah bestows riches and gives him the power to spend it in a righteous cause; and a person upon whom Allah bestows wisdom by which he judges and which he teaches." (Related by Bukhari and Muslim)

He used to congratulate the companions whenever they issued a right judgement or correctly answered a question. Imam Muslim narrates that once the Prophet asked Ubayy Ibn Ka'b, "Do you know which verse in Allah's Book is the greatest?" Ubayy answered by reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi (the verse of the Throne, i.e. Al-Baqarah, 2:255): "Allah! None has the right to be worshiped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists…) The Messenger kindly patted him on the chest, saying, "Congratulations, Abul-Munthir for this knowledge".

He used to call upon Allah to grant them the correct knowledge and understanding of this Deen: Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, "Once the Prophet embraced me and said, 'O Allah! Bestow on him the knowledge of the Book (Qur'an)." (Related by Bukhari)

He ordained all his companions and, thus, every Muslim who possesses some knowledge -- even as little as one verse -- to disseminate what they know to others: He said, "Convey (what you learn from me) even if only one verse…" (Related by Bukhari)

He made special du'a (supplication) for those who learn his sayings and transmit them to others: Zayd Ibn Thabit narrated that the Prophet said, "May Allah brighten the face of the person who hears what I say and retains it, then conveys it to others: for sometimes one who hears from another remembers it better than the original hearer himself." (Related by Ahmad and Tirmithi)

He assured all those who disseminate his knowledge that they will get the same reward of any Muslim who acts upon that knowledge: Abu Hurayrah relates that the Prophet said, "He who calls another to guidance will have a reward equal; to the reward of him who follows him without diminishing the reward of either of them." (Related by Muslim)

He showed to us the noble status of the learned people of His Ummah: Abu Umamah relates that the Prophet said, "A learned one is as much above an (ordinary) worshiper as I am above the least of you; and he added: Allah, His angels and all those in the heavens and in the earth, even the ants in their holes and the fish in the water, call down blessings on those who instruct people in beneficent knowledge." (Related by Tirmithi)

Better still, he declared that the 'Ulama' (those who have Islamic knowledge) are his heirs: Abu Darda' said that he heard the Prophet saying, "The 'Ulama' are heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets do not leave an inheritance of Dirhams and Dinars but (they left) only knowledge. He who acquires knowledge acquires a vast portion." (Related by Abu Dawud and Tirmithi)

After reading all these promises and glad tidings, one might ask, what more do we need to awaken our consciousness? We have been promised an easy way to paradise; the inheritance of our Prophet; a lofty rank, high and noble in status; a blessing from Allah and a supplication of all that exists in the heavens and earth; a face beaming in brightness and beauty on the Day of Judgement, when other faces will be sad and dismal. So, let us embark on the road to paradise; let us seek knowledge today.

Allah knows best.

He who acquires knowledge acquires a vast portion." (Related by Abu Dawud and Tirmithi)

As salam alaikum,

Shocked, can you prove to me that muslims practised hedonism in1500s. As for me I have read the history, and know that west pursued muslim lands long before industrialization, with gifts, marriages, some small agreements that were loose from muslim leaders. When industrialization started in 1800s , the superiority was a fact, and only showed in taking all over muslim lands, deciding their fates, and then wars. But please, let us not divert from the topic. Good idea is to read islamic history from day one to nowdays. It might enlighten each of us perception. And may be a good topic to start a thread, maybe each of us a stage of it... I wouldn't want to pursue the argument of hedonism. Is insulting, and does not help the topic. We need love each-other and support .

:salam2:.................

'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud said,
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"There shall be no envy but (emulate) two1 : the person whom Allah has given wealth and the power to spend it in the service of Truth, and the person whom Allah has granted knowledge2 of things and he judges by it and teaches it (to others)."3 (B. 3 : 15.)
1 The words in Arabic are la hasada illa fi-thnataini, which may be rendered as meaning "shall be no hasad but in two cases." But as hasad or the desire that another person shall be deprived of the advantages which he has, is totally prohibited by the moral code of Islam; the word illa is here used as an istithnamunqati`. Hasad (envy) and ghibtah (emulation) have one thing in common, viz., a desire regarding advantages or excellence which another man possesses; but in hasad the desire is that he shall be deprived of them, while in ghibtah it is that the desirer may be favoured with similar advantages. By using the word ghibtah in the heading of this chapter, Bukhari shows that while hasad is prohibited here, ghibtah is recommended in two cases.

2 The word in the original is hikmah which may be rendered wisdom or knowledge. According to R, it means "the knowledge of things and the doing of good."

3 The desire to have knowledge is here made akin to the desire to possess wealth which is a natural desire in every human heart, and thus it is made clear that the acquisition of knowledge is as important as that of wealth, and every human being should acquire both. The desire to possess either, however, is made subject to a further condition : the possessor of wealth spends it in the cause of Truth, and the possessor of knowledge teaches it to others, so that the benefit of humanity is the real end in view. In the Holy Qur'an , knowledge is spoken of as the greatest wealth : "And whoever is given knowledge (hikmah), he indeed is given abundant wealth" (2 : 269).

2 Malik ibn al-Huwairith said,
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said to us:

"Go back to your people and teach them."4 (B. 3 : 25.)
4 It was the case of a deputation of the Rabi`ah tribe that came to the Holy Prophet from Bahrain on (the Persian Gulf). They were told to remember all that they had learned in their residence at Madinah and to teach it to their people. The duty to teach others is laid on all Muslims in h. 3.

3 Ibn `Abbas reported on the authority of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him:

"Let him who is present impart knowledge to him who is absent." (B. 3 : 37.)

4 Abu Musa said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"There are three persons for whom there is a double reward: ... the person who has a slave-girl, and he brings her up and trains her in the best manner and he educates her and gives her the best education, then sets her free and marries her, he has a double reward."5 (B. 3 : 31.)
5 Here we are told that, so far as education was concerned, even slave-girls were not to be neglected. They had to be trained well and educated in the best manner. This was what Islam aimed at, and this was to be the Muslims' highest ideal; not only were free citizens to be trained and educated but even slaves, who were considered by the Arabs to have a very low status--not so low, however, as the unfortunate untouchables in India--were to be brought up to the level of the free citizen by proper education and training, and not only boys but girls as well. The questions of mass education, female education and emancipation of slaves were thus forestalled by the Holy Prophet thirteen hundred years before modern civilisation.

5 Abu Sa`id Khudri said,
The women said to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him. The men have got an advantage over us in approaching thee therefore appoint for us a day from thyself; so he promised them a day in which he met them and he exhorted them and gave them commandments.6 (B. 3 : 35.)

6 Bukhari mentions this hadith under the heading, "Should a separate day be fixed for the education of women?" It shows that from the Islamic point of view it is desirable that there should be separate arrangements for the education of men and women.

6 Abu Hurairah reported that,
The Khuza`ah murdered a man of the Banu Laith in the year of the conquest of Makkah, as a retaliation for the murder of one of them whom they had murdered. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, was informed of this, so he mounted his riding camel and delivered an address . . . And there came a man from among the people of Yaman and said, Write it down for me, O Messenger of Allah! So he said: "Write down for such and such a one."7 (B. 3 : 39.)

7 Although the Holy Prophet himself did not know reading or writing, he encouraged both. There is a misunderstanding as to the prohibition of writing down hadith. As this hadith shows, the Holy Prophet himself ordered the writing down of hadith when it was needed. Generally, however, writing of hadith was not considered desirable as it was feared that persons who were not cautious enough might confuse the verses of the Holy Qur`an with hadith. As the next hadith, however, shows there were some people who regularly resorted to writing hadith.

7 Abu Hurairah said,
There was no one from among the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, who reported more hadith from him than myself, but `Abd Allah ibn `Amr used to write while I did not write. (B. 3 : 39.)

8 Zaid ibn Thabit reported that,
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, commanded him to learn the writing of the Jews (in Syriac8) so that I wrote for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, his letters and read out to him their letters when they wrote to him. (B. 93 : 40.)

8 The words "in Syriac" are not in Bukhari but they are added here on the authority of AD. and Tr. This hadith shows that the Holy Prophet ordered the learning of other languages as well.

9 Abu Hurairah reported,
A man from among the Ansar said . . ., O Messenger of Allah! I hear from thee a hadith which pleases me very much but I cannot retain it in memory. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"Seek the help of they right hand."9
And he made a sign with his hand for writing. (Tr. 39 : 12.)

9 He was told to learn the art of writing and then write down hadith.

10 Abu Hurairah said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"People are mines like mines of gold and silver; the more excellent of them in the days of Ignorance are the more excellent of them in Islam when they attain knowledge."10 (M-Msh. 2 : 1.)
10 The superiority of race over race and family over family is recognised--people are mines like mines of gold and silver--among Muslims as well as non-Muslims, but it is added that this superiority is maintained through attainment of knowledge. If persons belonging to a superior race discard knowledge, they lose their superiority. Racial or family superiority is thus subject to the acquisition of knowledge.

11 Abu Hurairah said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"The word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it he has a better right to it."11 (Tr. 39 : 19.)
11 This hadith lays down upon every Muslim the obligation of acquiring knowledge. Hikmah means wisdom or knowledge, and dzallah means a lost animal or an object of persevering quest (LL.), so that the believer should set out in search of knowledge as perseveringly as the owner of a lost animal would search for it.

12 Anas said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"He who goes forth in search of knowledge is in the the way of Allah till he returns." (Tr. 39 : 2.)

13 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"Whomsoever Allah intends to do good, He gives right understanding of religion." And
"Knowledge is maintained only through teaching."12 (B. 3 : 10.)

12 These two sayings of the Holy Prophet are related by Bukhari in the heading of the tenth chapter of his "Book of Knowledge." The latter part shows that stress was laid not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on conveying it to others or on teaching it.

14 "The learned ones are the heirs of the prophets--they leave knowledge as their inheritance; he who inherits it inherits a great fortune."13 (B. 3 : 10.)

13 This is also a saying of the Holy Prophet and forms part of the heading of B. 3 : 10. It is related as a separate hadith in Tr. Knowledge is here described as the inheritance of the prophets and is called a great fortune.

15 Anas said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"The seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim."14 (Bhq-Msh. 2.)
14 The words every Muslim include both men and women, while another version adds and every Muslim woman. Its authorities are said to be weak. It should, however, be noted that the more authentic hadith quoted above also makes it obligatory upon all Muslims, men as well as women, to acquire knowledge.

16 Anas said,
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:

"Of the signs of the Hour is that knowledge shall be taken away and ignorance shall reign supreme."15 (B. 3 : 21.)
15 "The Hour" in the language of Islam indicates as regards an individual, his death; as regards a nation, the hour of its doom; and as regards the whole of humanity, the destruction of all. Evidently, what is meant here is the doom of a particular nation. Just as knowledge brings life to a nation, ignorance seals its doom. Thus have Muslims fallen on evil days; instead of that thirst for knowledge which characterised their ancestors, ignorance is now rampant.

As salam alaikum brother,

May Allah forgive me also, by giving a little stray of direction to the topic to start with. You are my brother from Allah always, and that's most beautiful thing of the forum. Inshaellah we eill open the topic of the history of muslim ummah.

As for the current topic I would add, that good idea would be to talk about muslim scientist from the begining, and muslim achievements in the field of knowledge, it might not necessary be scientific ( I have studied science, that comes first to mouth :). Thread is attractive, hope it will bring good info and discussions, we truly need.

As salam alaikum,

Jazak Allahu khairain for sharing the link. I particularly liked this video, where muslims are the inventors of coffee (I can't do without it), the clock and surprize but the seven notes of pentagram ( do re mi fa sol la si) are arabic!
What was nice about the video is that most people attribute these ones to any other civilizations, but muslims (some interviews show this) Amazing...
See if we come with some more good ones.
