Blessings of knowledge

What does the Qur'an and sunnah say about it:

1. Allah has praised knowledge, and raised the status of its people

[S. Al-Mujadalah 58:11]- ...Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees and Allah is acquianted with what you do.

2. Through knowledge the superiority of Adam (AS) over the angles was proven

The second verse that tells us about the importance of seeking knowledge is in the conversation between Allah and the Angels when Allah created Prophet Adam a.s

[ S. Al Baqarah 2:30-32] - And (mention, O Muhammad), when your Lord said to the Angels, "Indeed I will make upon the earth a succesive authority". They said, "Will you place upon the earth one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare your praise and sanctify You?" He [Allah] said, "Indeed I know that which you do not know." And He taught Adam the names- all of them. Then He showed them to the Angels and said, "Inform me of the names of these, if you are truthful" They said, "Exalted are you, we have no knowledge except, what you have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the knowing- The Wise."

3. Because of knowledge, the status of the Prophet (SAW) was established

We find one of the main reason’s for why Prophet Muhammad SalallahuAlayhi Wasalam was so beloved to Allah, and so perfect amongst the human race in the Quran

[S. An-Nisa 4:113] And Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know

4. So great is the status [of the people of knowledge], that Allah (SWT) Himself testifies on their behalf.

[S. Ali-Imran 3 :18] Allah witness that there is no deity except him, and [so do] angels and those of knowledge.

5. It is he scholars who truly understand the Qur’an.

“These are the parables that we give mankind, and nobody understands these parables except for the people of knowledgde” [Al Ankabuut 29:43]

6. It is the scholars who truly fear Allah, and no one can fear Allah properly and truly like the scholar.

And so amongst men and crawling creatures and cattle, are they of various colours. Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants who have knowledge: for Allah is Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.[Fatir 35:28]

7. It is the scholars who are not swayed by their desires and are blessed with wisdom.

The people of knowledge are the ones who are not swayed by their desires and who will always act as righteous guardians over society. The best example of this is the story of Qarun found in the Quran.

78. He said: "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge which I have." did He not know that Allah had destroyed, before him, (whole) generations, - which were superior to Him In strength and greater In the amount (of riches) They had collected? But the wicked are not called (immediately) to account for their sins.

79. So He went forth among His people In the (pride of His wordly) glitter. Said those whose aim is the life of this world: "Oh! that we had the like of what Qarun has got! For He is truly a Lord of mighty good fortune!"

80. But those who had been granted (true) knowledge said: "Alas for you! The reward of Allah (in the Hereafter) is best for those who believe and work righteousness: but this none shall attain, save those who steadfastly persevere (in good)."

81. Then we caused the earth to swallow up Him and His House; and He had not (the least little) party to help Him against Allah, nor could He defend Himself.

82. And those who had envied His position the Day before began to say on the morrow: "Ah! It is indeed Allah who enlarges the provision or restricts it, to any of His servants He pleases! Had it not been that Allah was gracious to us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us up! Ah! Those who reject Allah will assuredly never prosper [Al Qashash 28:78-82]

8. Knowledge is a sign of Allah’s love for a person.

The only blessing Prophet Muhammad SalallahuAlayhi Wasalam was commanded in the Quran to ask more of was knowledge. Not money, wealth, status or fame.

"O My Lord! Increase me in my knowledge."
[TaHa 20:114]

9. So blessed is the status of scholars that Prophet Muhammad SalAllahu Alayhi Wasalam has called them the inheritors of the prophets.

:salam2: dear sis,
:ma: Another great post, jazzakAllahu khair for posting.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever takes a path seeking therein knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. And Verily the Angels lower their wings to the student of knowledge due to their being pleased to what they do. Verily everything in the heavens and earth even the fish in the water ask that the scholar be forgiven (for their sins). The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like that of the moon over the rest of the stars. Verily the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. Surely the Prophets do not leave behind to be inherited dinaar nor dirham (money). Verily they only leave behind knowledge to be inherited, so whoever takes it has taken hold of a great prosperity.”
