Can a woman pray out loud?

Inshallah all of my brothers and sisters here at TTI are in good health and Iman.


I have a question. I usually pray using just a soft whisper but the other day I dont know why but I felt like saying the words out loud and my husband happened to come in from work and heard me praying. He told me that women should never pray out loud. Obviously I had no idea so I figured I better find out which is why I am here posting this question.
