Assalamu 'alaykum,

The Amnesty International club in my school is working with 4 different prisoners of conscience this year and one of them is a Yemeni Journalist. We're writing letters to the Minister of Justice Murshid al-Arshani and President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi. I can't seem to find either of their addresses online. The official websites only have email addresses but I need a legitimate address to send the letters to them.

So can anyone help me find either of their addresses? I've been looking for about an hour now..

JazaakAllaahu khayr.

Walaikum Salaam warahmathullaahi wabarakaatuh,

So why is this Yemeni Journalist labelled a "Prisoner of conscience" [Its a wiki link]?

Abdullah Haider Shaye was one of the few journalists who covered the massacre of 14 women and 21 children in Yemen back in 2009. He documented evidences that suggested the United States was behind these drones attacks - and he specifically brought to attention the number of cluster bombs and remnants of "Made in USA" missiles dropped over these civilians. Initially, the Yemeni government took responsibility for it but Shaye's evidence countered this and put Obama on the spotlight. Because of this he has been in prison for approximately two years now. He has been tortured, beaten, held in solitary confinement by Yemeni forces who are, of course, obedient to Obama.

Former President Saleh was actually willing to pardon Shaye but Obama spoke out against it and "expressed concern" over it. Amnesty International is writing for action to try to get Shaye the justice he deserves.

So to sum up, yes, he's a prisoner of conscience because he has been subjected to torture for crimes he never committed - the only crime he committed was exposing President Obama's ruthless drone warfare.

Here's an article on him: http://www.salon.com/2012/03/14/obamas_personal_role_in_a_journalists_imprisonment/singleton/

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa rahmathullaahi wabarakaatuh,

Sister, thank you for replying.

Keep up the good work, but don't let that heart get hardened by exposure to ways of world. May sense prevail... Ameen

Lol :)

Mashaa'Allaah Sister Harb, I love how active you are with these things. May Allaah reward you.

JazaakAllaahu khayr for the addresses, but I'm not sure if they are legitimate addresses - like "Justice Street"? and they don't have P.O Box numbers or anything of that sort. I want to make sure the addresses are right because we will be mailing around 100 letters and we don't want the letters to go to the wrong place.

Hmm.. maybe I should e-mail them and see if they reply.

Btw, thank you Sister Harb.

Salam alaykum;

I will continue finding but not now (need to go to bed soon but at morning). One way to check addresses would be take contact to that organization, whose campained against child marriages in Yemen and ask them if they had official addresses in they site. They contacts:

JazaakAllaahu khayr, that's a good idea. I just e-mailed them, hopefully they will reply. I think one of the addresses is correct (the President's address you posted - 60th street really does exist, so inshaa'Allaah I might use that one if I don't find the Ministry of Justice's address).
