Take the leap and just jump into the water. I found it easier to simply begin practicing 100 percent and get the shock out of the way. For a few weeks everyone was kind of weird about my reversion, but it was over with fairly quickly and now everyone in my life is fine. My in laws always cook additional foods to insure that I can eat when we visit them, at work people are considerate of prayer times, at home my wife, who is still a Christian, always makes sure that I pray when the adhan sounds on one of our computers.
Yes, it was difficult, but I found that most of my difficulties were of my own making and in my own head. I also found that it helped to be firm, and not compromise on any point, right from the start. Eventually, most Muslims will have to make the decision, do we please Allah (subhana wa ta'allah), or do we please people?
