Concept of Messiah in Islam?

Salaam, when the Qur'an says Jesus (peace and blessings be upon him) was the Messiah, what does it mean? I looked up Messiah in the dictionary and it said something about a savior. What is the concept of the Messiah in Islam as opposed to Christianity? Any answers would be appreciated.
