:salam2:
To begin with..
the little
"insertion" of the part regarding
"what & where" Najd is..is a display of utter ignorance!..and it leads me to believe that there's a deeper..and darker intention as to *why* it was put there
(
I am not saying this about you akhi..as you only quoted the hadith as you found it..I am talking about the persons who "translated" the hadith or provided it with the "insertion")..
Also the hadith doesn't say *the head of shaitan* in Arabic..it says *qurn al-shaitan*..which means
*the horn of shaitan*..some people might see this as *trivial*..but we're not translating a
random quote here..we're translating a
*hadith*..so spending an hour or two..or even a day or two coming up with *the closest words ever possible* might prevent us from
ATTAINING A SEAT IN HELL-FIRE! (ao'otho billah!)
Now let's get back to your question..
The word Najd..in Arabic
DOES NOT indicate
*one specific area*..
As the word
*Najd*..means:
*a land that is slightly elevated (i.e. has hills and/or small mountains and such) from the land(s) near it and/or around it*
The opposite of this word is..
Ghoor
which pretty much means
*a land that is lower (i.e. almost valley-like) than the land(s) near it and/or around it*
Now...if you check historical geography...at the time of Rasulullah (saaws)...the only najd *known* and outlined by the local population *at that time* was whatever is
east and
northeast of Madinah..which would pretty much (in modern-day names) be..
Eastern modern-day
Riyadh..
Northern Saudi Arabia..
Southern Iraq..and from
Southern Iraq..the areas upward (
North) towards
The Euphrates River and the
Western deserts of Iraq..all the way to the
Eastern borders of
Syria
Thus..even if Riyadh is part of "Najd"..it is
not *the only* part of it..there is an area
*vaster* than *it* which fits the description & prophesies of Rasulullah (saaws)
*exactly*..
Let's review the "earhquake" part first...
Almost all of Saudi Arabia is considered
Aseismic by geologists (aseismic means
*a land free of earthquakes*)..the only
*exception* to this aseismity is the area of
Hijaz in Saudi Arabia (
The Western Region of it specifically)..and in recent times..this has come to proof..because earthquakes had been taking place in specific areas such as the coastal city of
Jeddah..in
Tabuk (north of Madinah)..further north towards the Iraqi borders in the city of
Hae'el..and even in
small cities in the
Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia..point is..
no earthquake has been recorded in *central* Saudi Arabia (i.e. RIYADH)...
PLUS..if you check the area outlined as Najd historically (specified earlier)...for example if you take Iraq..you will find that there had been many earthquakes recorded there..some which were of high measures!..include the Northern and Eastern parts of Saudi Arabia..and you've got yourself a *prophesy* taking place
*to the letter!* (sobhanallah! & sadaqa Rasulullah!)
Now if we take the "FITAN" bit of the hadith..regarding "Najd"..then let me ask you the following..
*where are the MOST people of bida'a located?!*
*where did the khawarij come from?!*
*where did the Rawafidh (i.e. Shia), the Bahai'is, the Qadyanis, the Babis, the Druz, the Batinis, the Qadiris, the Jahimis, and the Mu'utazila originate?!*
*who killed Al-Hussain ibn Ali (raa)?!*
*who killed Othman ibn Affan (raa)?!*
*who supported the Persian Empire the most?!*
*where did Al-Hajjaj find a haven for his oppression?!*
*where did the afflictions of the Moguls and the Qaramita take place?!*
I think you get the point by now!...MOST IF NONE of these took place in "NAJD WHERE THE SAUDI RULERS HAVE ORIGINATED"...
THEY ALL TOOK PLACE OR THEY'RE TAKING PLACE IN *IRAQ!*
As for the "Sham" bit..
once again..utter ignorance...
"The Sham" is not only Syria..it is Syria..Lebanon..Palestine..Jordan..and a small bit of Turkey...
As for why "the Sham" was specified..then once again..one only needs to review *Islamic history* to know the *significance* of the Sham Region..
1. Sayidina Al-Maseeh (Prophet Jesus) (pbuh) will descend from heaven in Damascus to kill Addajjal, break the cross, kill the swine, and declare Islam as the one true religion of Allah (swt).
2. The Mahdi will fight the battle against the army of Al-Dajjal there.
3. The Mahdi will lead the Muslims in prayer there.
4. Rasulullah (saaws) was taken up to heaven from Al-Quds in the event of Al-Isra'a wal Me'eraj
5. Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa is in Al-Quds
6. The first qibla of Muslims was Al-Quds
These are off the top of my head..if there are others..then surely they will further confirm the significance
As for Yemen..unfortunately..I am not very knowledgable in its historical signifance (I do not say this in belittlement..ao'otho billah..but I am being honest in regards to my lack of knowledge!)..so if any brothers/sisters have good knowledge..they should *definitely* share their knowledge so we may all benefit...
As a conclusion I must say...
Hadiths should not be used in the fashion of "belittling" or "insulting" peoples...which is the case with this hadith..as it is
VERY OFTEN used after much
*twisting* by
the Shias and
the Sufis and other
deviated groups to claim that
*Najd (i.e. Riyadh)* is the origin of all
CHAOS for Muslims!..sobhanallah!
And also for one to see Northern Saudi Arabia..and Iraq being under focus should NOT give an excuse to
*bash* the people from these regions..yes..there had been many catastrophes committed by and/or through the people of these regions..but also many people of high regard and respect came from them..such as..
Imam Abu Hanifah..Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal..Sofyan Al-Thawri..Al-Hafidh Al-Iraqi..Salahud-deen Al-Ayoobi..and many others
and the best thing that comes to mind right now is a narration of an incident mentioned in Mawta'a Malik..and it was the answer
Sulayman Al-Farisi (raa) gave to
Abul Darda'a when the latter wrote to the first urging him to migrate to the Sham region saying:
"Hasten to a land (that is) holy"
to which Sulayman Al-Farisi (raa) wrote:
"A land does not make a man holy, rather the deeds of a man make him holy"
