No, the West is always to the opposite side of the East. It is a direction.
All the world is Allah's land. Why is there to be death and destruction there? certainly WE as Muslims do not want that. Its one of the propoganda ploys of orientalists to say that Muslims want "The West" to die or not exist.
Why do we need to read books by patrick j.buchanan or any other non-Muslim? They have no wisdom in helping Muslims in any way. They just right these books to make money. waste of time.
Everything we need is written in the Quran and the authentic Sunnah. It tells us how times will change, that people will rely on the unknown callers and the Scholars of Islam be few in number and people will abandon them. That the Muslims be many in number yet weak. -
When Muslims are strong, i.e. when they have pure Tawheed beliefs, when follow Islam by Quran and Sunnah.. and implement it in our lives, from doing charity to understanding and doing Jihad, then we will be successful.

I think we need to read books/columns etc written by anyone specially those who are against us, so that we could know what is in their mind and what they are planning.
I live in the west and I kind of know what they (who are in control of west today) are planning by reading their own books and articles etc.

Patrick Buchanan is just making an assumption. We can assume a lot of things. He just wants people to buy and read his book. It's almost like going to a fortune teller. Only Allah swt knows the future of a nation.
As Muslims, we should look at it from a different perspective. For the believers this life is a test.....
"Do you expect to enter Paradise without being tested like those before you? They were tested with hardship and adversity, and were shaken up, until the messenger and those who believed with him said, "Where is GOD's victory?" GOD's victory is near" (2:214)

Beautiful reply.... Indeed we as muslims should spend most of our time in reading the Quran and Sunnah. And should implement them on our life as whole. We should not waste our time in reading other books just for pleasure and time pass.
