Assalamu Alaikum:

How are Discoveries and Inventions, interpreted in terms of Islamic perspective?.

Allah says in Ayat-Al-Kursi:

wa la yuhituna bi shai'im-min 'ilmihi illa bima sha'a
( Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth)

And hence,is scientific progress through inventions and discoveries out of Human control (autonomy)?.

Is Human brain simply a means of feeding knowledge by Allah (SWT) and later subsequent disclosure of knowledge by the one blessed with knowledge?

Atom Bomb and such other destructive mechanisms aren't Human break through?.

Lastly, why Allah (SWT) blesses disbelievers with more knowledge of various Inventions and Discoveries?.

Regards.

I haven't came across this post/question. But this is a very good question to ask since many people are not understanding concepts in Islam.

first of all, Allah states in ayat alkursi, like you quoted:

No one is to encompass Allah's knowledge except what Allah wills or decreed.

now lets take a side step,

one of the names of Allah is Al-Razaq. The one who grants prosperity and blessings.

A lot of people mistaken this to mean $10 in the pocket or even a million. but after understanding the concept of rizq it encompasses the ability to acquire it.

for example: the farmer plants and cultivates, but without rizq from Allah his harvest may not even grow. Then after the fruits of the labor are acquired there is a sale of distribution that needs to take place otherwise the farmer will not prosper. the fact that so and so came across the product and bought it from you is calculated and estimated by Allah. I will keep this brief otherwise I could go more into depth.

Here is an example from the Quran:

[Hilali-Khan] And with Him are the keys of the Ghaib (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in (or on) the earth and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but he knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record. [6:59]

In this very encompassing ayah, everything is in accurate estimation when it comes to Allah. The droplet of rain is in exact approximation.

[Hilali-Khan] He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. [25:2]

Now lets shift focus, to medical: The patient is ill he goes and sees a doctor, in sha Allah. The cure will be from Allah, and Allah gave the doctor the knowledge ability and material to help cure that person. That is why it is highly recommended that a person make duaa to Allah to cure prior to and during a trip to the doctor.

lastly, Allah is the changer of hearts. The way you feel about things can be guided by Allah, if you ask for it.

wa Allah ya'lam

sorry for the wording and breifness, I didn't dedicate the time that is required to clearly answer such a question.

Interesting questions.
In short, yes these are discoveries of human mind, but they remain as DISCOVERIES not creation out of nothing. In other words, they were always there for men to find, all that was needed was inquisitive minds. However, Allah has put some limits to how much we can discover. Those limits are physical and physiological. In other words, our brain only has a limited amount of weight (average adult male brain weight 1336 gr, average adult female brain weight 1198 gr) and therefore it can only function to a limit.

That is, if we try to discover about the person of God, we will miserably fail. Even if we try to find out what soul is, we are not equipped for knowing that as stated in Quran 17:85

And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little."

To your last question, disbelievers aren't blessed with more knowledge. Everyone is treated equally in this regard. It comes down to several factors. One of them is only those nations can progress where there is peace and most people's basic needs of life are met. When they do not have to worry about their security and starvations, some of the inquisitve minds can star to divert their time and attention to investigations and knowledge.

Look at the history of Islamic countries. They have been under constant threats and occupations from the west. First, it was Crusades, and now under the name of war against terrorism. The result is that there is fear and starvation among the people living in Islamic countries and have no time for knowledge or discovries.

Thanks Br Bawar and Br Abdul Aziz for your replies. I think the topic needs more wider interpretations. yes, both of you have shed some light on the topic.

The Knowledge for making discoveries and inventions is not inspired but is acquired by study and research .Allah S.W.T. repeatedly encourages the believers to study and ponder on the laws of nature which explains the discoveries and inventions by the Muslim scientists in the middle ages .When they the believers stopped the study and reseach acquisition of additional knowledge by them came to a standstill and they were overtaken by the non-muslims who built upon the knowledge through study and research

Allaah subhaana wa ta'aala gave us Islaam. It will die with you but your knowledge of building atom bombs wouldn't. Allaah gives everyone knowledge just as He feeds them.
