Question: Does Allah talk to His servants?

Assalamu alaykum
I hope all of my brothers and sisters are doing well.

I came across this beautiful Quranic verse, and I was wondering if someone could explain it a bit more?

"It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration of from behind a veil or by the sending of a Messenger to reveal with Allah’s permission what Allah wills: for He is Most High Most Wise."

Does this mean that Allah sends inspritation and signs to anyone? And Allah will even reveal what He wills (in the future) for someone?

If yes, then can someone explain this verse as well?

"And no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. "

Heyyy I just came across that ayah too lol. We must be around the same place in the Quran.

Anyways, my Quran commentary states that this pertains to a wahy. Here's the actual wording:

"This is the primary meaning of a wahy, a term which combines the concepts of suddenness and inner illumination; in the usage of the Quran, it is often, though by no means always, synonymous with "revelation". The above passage connects with the first paragraph of verse 48, which speaks of the divine message entrusted to the Prophet."

I believe that Allah does speak to us through epiphanies and sudden inspirations that illuminate our hearts. It's definitely possible for us to communicate with Our Creator. We just have to make sure we're always working on our relationship with Him and not neglecting it.

I believe Allah communicates very subtly with almost everyone. For example, Allah guides so many people to start searching for the truth and then people who never thought they would, embrace Islam and become muslims. There's something external guiding them forward and Allah puts thoughts and feelings in their mind and hearts to make them change their perspective in certain ways. Its not like the person changed themselves, it was Allah talking to his servants.

Then, there's another sort of feeling I'm sure we all have - instinct or intuition. For example, there are many times that you have lost something, but then something within you tells you to look for it in a certain place and you find it there. Or sometimes you are about to do something, but suddenly you change your mind and later realize if you went with the first option things wouldn't have worked out well for you. These are all subtle thoughts Allah puts in our mind, right?

I have another question. Allah mentions in the Quran that He sends down many Signs. What are those signs? Could they be specific signs that we have asked for? And also, is it okay to ask Allah to send you specific signs, or does that just mean that you don't have a strong enough belief in Allah..??..

I too have been looking for answers to these questions,what sister Tabassum and sister Precious star said about dreams and feeling,like "ilham" seem quite alright,"communicating" is a rather subjective term,when Allah (swt) responds to the duas that can be a form of communication,many of us I am sure must have felt it,how out of the blue suddenly things just fall in line. wallahu aalam.
Also I read an excerpt from a poem by Mevlana Rumi,just for the sake of having an understanding,khyr this is not a confirmed thing ,just an opinion and feeling:

All night, a man called“Allah”
Until his lips were bleeding.
Then the Devil said, “Hey! Mr Gullible!
How comes you’ve been calling all night
And never once heard Allah say, “Here, I am”?
You call out so earnestly and, in reply, what?
I’ll tell you what. Nothing!”
The man suddenly felt empty and abandoned.
Depressed, he threw himself on the ground
And fell into a deep sleep.
In a dream, he met Abraham, who asked,
“Why are you regretting praising Allah?”
The man said, “ I called and called
But Allah never replied, “Here I am.”
Abraham explained, “Allah has said,
“Your calling my name is My reply.
Your longing for Me is My message to you.
All your attempts to reach Me
Are in reality My attempts to reach you.
Your fear and love are a noose to catch Me.
In the silence surrounding every call of “Allah”
Waits a thousand replies of “Here I am.”

Allah can send sakina and sabr to us when we ask for it - isn't this Allah controling how a person thinks? Allah can guide whom He wills, and stop a person from receiving guidance also.

Because he sends us signs and circumstances.

Its indirect, not direct.

For example, if we are sick, and we pray for healing, Allah does not magically cure us. He gives us the means to seek out medical treatment. If that medical treatment is expensive, He will -- or He won't -- provide us with the financial means to buy that treatment, according to His will.

If we are hurting and need His help, He will send that help to us - or He won't, depending on His will. Some people need counsellors, and Allah will direct them to come into our life through His infinite means. There are people who do not know the first thing about seeking out a counsellor, and if Allah does not will for that person to get help, then that person will not find the means to seek out a counsellor.

These are just examples.

I'm not sure how old you are but some of these things are learned over life's experiences. Its not always an "if-then" statement. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

There are many many times when His decision is to not answer us. Speak to those who have been through many ups and downs over the course of their lives; we seek out Allah's answers, we ask for Him to speak to us in our dreams, we ask Him to give us signs of His help....sometimes they appear, sometimes they don't.

When Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala speaks of Signs, or Ayaat, in the Quran, He is speaking of the Signs He created in this world that point to His Existence. Signs like the sun and the moon, rain and famine, etc. Often whenever He states that He has sent down Signs, they are often followed by another ayah where He says that those Signs are for "those who reflect" or "those who understand". He is basically saying that He has filled this world with Signs of His Existence and only those that will themselves to be guided will be able to see them.

Regarding asking Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for signs, we are discouraged from doing this. The destroyed civilizations of the past used to demand signs from Him and they faced His Wrath.

In Surat al-Baqarah, Allah states:

"And they that know not say, 'Why does God not speak to us? Why does a sign not come to us?' So spoke those before them as these men say; their hearts are much alike. Yet We have made clear the signs unto a people who are sure. {2:118}

Not sure if this pertains only to asking for signs of His Existence or signs in general.
