Does Art immitate life or the other way around

I was watching TV this weekend and thought to myself "Does art immitate life or does life immitate art?" As I watched various movies I begin seeing that maybe Life IMMITATES art! I say this because I noticed how films are created and the content of them tend to be desensitizing us to perverse and sadistic behaviors. I mean I wonder if TV was full of Little House on The Praire or Seventh Heaven re-runs, instead of what is out there now (nip tuck, etc.) then maybe we as humanity wouldn't make it all acceptable. What do you think?

If you ask me ... life immitates "art".

With such an intensive message broadcasted over all media outlets all the time ... it WILL have an impact on us and the younger we are the bigger the impact.

I've realised this when I've started trying not to look at images of indecent women. My .. they are everywhere .. even on scientific journals ! .. there is an attractive woman with an "inviting" look nearly on all ads, including medicines! It is no wonder we became soooo desensitised for indecency. It does not surprise me that Western men see nothing wrong in their women walking around half-naked. It is everywhere after all.

This is just a small part of the over-all picture and by no way the most important one. Watch the TV for half an hour and you will see something indecent, something making a joke of God or parents and a scene that glamorise sensual and irresponsible life style. This is destroying everything good in us and we will come to pay for it (actually we already are). I've stopped watching TV and now deal with the internet where I can -at least partially- control the material viewed by MYSELF. I seriously worry about my child and how he will fair but then Allah (subhanaho wa ta'aala) guide who He wants.

There was an article on CNN.com about a group of Pregnant teens in Denver seeking the right to "maternity leave" without being penalized. UMMMM......excuse me......why should we accept that you are in the position you are in and make it easier for you? I mean yes they should finish school, but should have to keep up with their studies even if from home during recovery.......the article just made it sound like "how could they be denied maternity leave, poor girls!" Desensitization again! When I was in high school, there were girls who were pregnant but they were looked down on and ridiculed they were not accepted as being "normal"..........I worry about my girls growing up too!
