doing the Niyaat

5) Mumbling the niyyah or intention, and uttering it in a low audible voice.
The heart is the place of intention. Mumbling words such as "I intend to pray such prayer or such number of rak'aat, or I intend to fast, or do such act of worship or another," just before starting prayer is a bid'ah which was practiced neither by the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) nor his companions, nor by their followers.

Uttering the above words of niyyah allows shaitaan to put irrelevant words in the mouth of the person who utters the niyyah. Do you remember at one time or another that once you stood up for dhuhr prayer and discovered yourself saying, "I intend to pray four rak'aat of Isha," or when you were standing for Asr prayer you made your intention to pray fajr instead? This confusion is from shaitan. Had you kept silent, shaitan would have no chance of confusing you.

I will get more information later on this so check back,

but for now, You never need to describe that you are making so and so prayer or rakaas

For obligatory prayer the iqamat is required. thats all

:salam2: I used to make the same mistake but after I learned that is bida'a I stopped doing so, niyah supposed to be in the heart for wudu' salat and siyyam
It’s true that shaytan confuse you about witch salat you are going to make when saying it in words it happened with me before

Brother Pcozzy you said for obligatory prayer the iqamat is required. My question is iqamat obligatory for women too because I heard that women are not supposed to make Iqama just like Athan and pray without iqama I'm I wrong? Thank you

Here I did my best in sha Allah to find sources always better to confirm from an imam though:

Question: When the women gather to perform the prayer, do they make the iqaamah for the prayer?

Response: If they make the iqaamah, there is no harm in that. If they do not do so, there is no harm in that either. This is because the adhan and iqaamah are only obligatory upon the men.

As for the reference on niyyah(intention) I use Sheik Al-bany rihma-Allah works to clarify the strong hadiths from the ones that are not, and take his advise:

http://abdurrahman.org/salah/prophetsprayer.html
The Conditions, Pillars and Requirements of the Prayer - Shuroot as-Salaat wa Arkaanuhaa wa Waajibaatuhaa ->
The Conditions of the Prayer ->
The Ninth Condition - The Intention ->

An-Niyyah (The Intention): Its place is in the heart, and as for vocalizing it, then this is an innovation. The proof for this is the hadeeth:
«Verily actions are based on intentions, and verily every man will have what he intends.»[9]
I my self also remember the Quran:

God will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned. And God is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing. [2:225]

I was once saying something in Arabic not mindful of what I was saying, and I was very worried if I was held accountable for it for no one had heard besides myself. So I asked someone who knows more and they referred me to this ayah stating Allah judges by what is in the heart.

may Allah guide me and all people.
