Brothers and Sisters, Peace Be Upon You!
There is something that bothers me everytime I see a muslim male revert in a picture or a video. It is his new clothes. I dont know how the idea comes up to our new brothers in Islam that they have to change the way they dress. I can understand if they stop wearing any religious symbols but why they have to dress like an Arab or Afghani? An example is our beloved brother Yousef Islam, why does he have to wear like Afghani. I know it is a personal matter but it appear to the non Muslim that Islam is not universal!!
This applies to the Imams of the mosques in non-Muslim countries too. The Imams wear Arabic clothes, we call it Mishlah or Abah. I dont understand the the idea behing wearing Mishlah in order to be Imam in a Mosque? Do they wear to show off that they are Imams? Insha Allah they are not doing this in order to distinguish themselves from their other brothers in the Mosque.
I have not seen any article discussing this issue anywhere in the web, so this ust be the first time, I guess. Tot my knowledge it has not been discussed before. :astag:
One note here for my Arab brothers and sisters, I am proud of my Arab dress and culture but we are all Muslims of differnet cultures, European Nordic Muslims, European English Muslims, Asian Indian Muslims, Australian Muslims, African Muslims, and so on and so on....
Thank you
