Egyptian pyramids found by infra-red satellite images

Seventeen lost pyramids are among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt.

More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings.

Initial excavations have already confirmed some of the findings, including two suspected pyramids.

The work is the subject of a new BBC documentary called "Egypt's Lost Cities".

Egypt's great pyramids 'not built by slaves'

Tombs discovered near Egypt's great pyramids reinforce the theory they were built by free workers rather than slaves, experts have said.
The simple mud and brick tombs, on the outskirts of Cairo, hold the remains of men who built the pyramids of Khufu (Cheops) and Khafre (Chephren).
