Eid prayer question

salaams brothers and sisters,

this will be my second Eid. Last year I did not pray Eid prayer as I was still quite ignorant of my duties as a new muslim.

However this year I intend to pray Eid prayer in congregation.

I have one question....

how many rakahs in Eid prayer?

The Eid prayer consists of two Rak`aat. `Umar reported:
"The travelers' prayer is two Rak`aat; the Adha prayer is two Rak`aat; the Fitr prayer is two Rak`aat; and the Jumu`ah prayer is two Rak`aat; this is their full length as came upon the tongue of Muhammad."

The Imam leads the congregation with two Rak'aats. The first rak'aat takbirat is 7 times, the second rak'aat is 5 takbirat. Usually there is a small khutbah(sermon) afterwards, opposite of jummah which is before the prayer. It is best to listen to this talk as there is great benefit in it.
