fasting?

palestine

Servant of Allah
:salam2: dear respected muslims please, please help me with this question. i have to make up 4 months of fasting that i missed while at the age of puberty. as embarrassing as this is, i have to know the answer to it. but to provide with you a background detail is a must: at the age of 11 i went through puberty, and so i was supposed to start fasting then but i was childish and didn't. another reason why i didn't fast is because i was sick often and had many surgeries. so most of the time i was on medication. my sickness has made me very weak and weary alot of the times. i have been sick since the age of 2-3 until now. i'm worried about my fasting- when i'm fasting to make up those days of ramadan i had missed, i get even sicker. i get dizziness and become so weak that i can't get up. i have asthma also which adds up to the rest of my problems. kindly answer my question: Must i make up those days of ramadan i had missed? because it is very very hard for me to make them up. i can keep up with ramadan, like the upcoming month and so on because time is shorter and i mostly in school so time passes by. asalamu alaykum wrwb.

jaffarabduraheem

Not afraid of you.
Not to worry brother.

:salam2:

My brother, it is important that you make up for days that you willfully missed, but if fasting will cause health problems, then it is not obligatory. Allah prescribes fasting for the able bodied, but He knows if you are too sick to effectively do it.

Here is a link to a useful fatwa:
http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/11107/sick fast

It may be useful to note that after right guidance comes to you, if you still have doubt then you should recognize that the Shaytan is taunting you so you should seek refuge with Allah.

I hope I've helped, anything good I've said is of Allah and any mistakes are my own.

no problem inshallah. :salam2::hijabi:

Aww sweet heart, I think you should eat food that contains glucose and also try eating carbohydrates. It will keep you fit enough not to faint ;)
Try having a heavy sehri and then see how it goes.

:salam2: sister Palestine :)

InshaAllah, you'll be well :)

in general, when we eat food, it get digested and used if need for energy or stored (usually as fat) if we don't use it... food that contain most of energy is fat (such as skin of chicken, oil, ...)... food that is easier to digest and used for energy quick is carbohydrates (sugar, all veggies and fruits, bread,...)... the other kind of food is protein which is used to build DNA and all kinds of cells (such as muscles and blood cells). food that contain a lot of protein are meats...

this is a link if you would like to read more about nutrition (what food contains what and other things)
http://www.nutrition.gov/nal_display/index.php?info_center=11&tax_level=1

best thing to do is to balance your diet of all (carbohydrates, fat, protein, water, minerals, ...).... and best practice is of our beloved prophet where one doesn't eat until his hungry and when he eat, he doesn't eat until his full!!!... there are exceptions to individuals who have certain occasions, then they should check with their doctor...

sister palestine, "listen to your body" and "work with it" :D... don't push it too hard and don't let it "take over you" by making you weak...

jazakallahu khayran brother. look i'm not really much of a variety eater. what i mean is i don't eat nutritious foods. for example: i don't eat meat, during the whole year i might eat just one day or two days. i don't eat veggies( they taste gross), i don't eat fruits(just a habit lol), i don't even eat mcdonalds or burger kings. lol. so i'm gonna work on eating more nutrious foods inshallah. jazakallahu khayran. :salam2:

WOW, sister, what have you been doing :D... yes sister, please start eating well... we are borrowing our bodies and we will leave it soon... we should take care of it... our bodies is Allah's gift to us...

InshaAllah, you'll get well

one way to make you eat more is to exercise... the more energy one burns (exercising), the more energy one would need/want (food)... more excercise>>> more food consumed>>> more muscles built>>> more energy (food) needed in a daily bases -- up to one's optimum where he/she feels good :)

if you have any questions, please feel free to ask :)

May Allaah(subhaanahu wa ta'ala) help all of us....

If Allaah(subhanahu wa ta'ala) wills The ramadhaans in the next year to come, and if the world is not destroyed ... they are going to be very hard.

Each year Ramadhaan comes it falls back about ten days or so. Where I live This means Ramadhaan (if Allaah(subhaanahu wa ta'ala) wills).....will moving into August and July. In Summer where I live The sun rises at about 3:30am and can sometimes set at around 10:00Pm. This is about 22 hours of having no intake of food or water.

I fear I'm going to die with 22 hours of no food.

Inshallah you're not gonna die of hunger. sure it is hard to fast for 22 hours but think back to the days of the prophet. i mean their hours are more than that of usa and canada- it's was hot, and most of the time they had travelled. They lived through it. they made it through and didn't die of hunger. This truly poves how weak we THINK OR BELIEVE WE ARE. i mean come on- if you were being paid millions of dollars or offered that much to fast just one day(22 hrs) im sure we would be competing to do so. so dear muslim hang tight and inshallah you'll make it through. besides you got refrigetor, fans, anything that would cool you down from fainting. right? asalamu alaykum.
