:salam2:
I was to an Islamic conference today
and this brother from Kuweit was saying that there are several important guidelines that one should do, especially a revert to Islam:
- be a caller to Islam i.e. dae'e
There was knowledge who got you to convert so share it and don't think that you can't make dawah just because you are a revert to Islam - also this will make you study more.
- read about Islam, read/listen/memorize Quran and learn Arabic knowledge
10 minutes per each activity is enough and it makes a difference; if you read 10 minutes from Qur'an then listen to it and it's meaning and memorize just 1 Ayah then it will benefit you immensely - 1 Ayah each day makes 365 Ayah per year and that is something!
And for those who say that they won't be able to learn Arabic perfectly so to get the exact meaning when reciting Qur'an, just bear in mind that it was a Persian who made the Arabic grammar and also that none of the major Hadeeth collectors were Arabs so that a non-Arab can have a perfect understanding of Arabic, he must only seek to learn it.
- get a best friend
Choose a good Muslim to befriend as this will help you to improve yourself.
- make dhikr and suplications/duaa' to Allah
Remembering Allah and asking Him for everything you need/want will bring you closer to Him, gain His pleasure and by loving you, He will bestow his mercy upon you, give you His forgiveness and lots of blessings out of His immense generosity.
- have sabr i.e. be patient
One must know that Allah will test him to see if he is a good Muslim or not because He loves him and He will give him more blessings if one pass the tests by endurance and with hope, asking Allah's help and seeking His pleasure.
- take Islam easy, slowly, without rush
One must start with priorities like learning how to make salah and starting to do it then gradually learning more things and practicing them; step by step, one will improve and do what he can to the best of his ability.
May Allah make the path of Islam smooth for all its followers ameen.
