Qatar shopping mall fire kills at least 19

A blaze at the Villagio Mall in Doha's west end kills at least 19 people, including 13 children. Four of the dead children were Spanish, diplomatic sources in Madrid said.

The fire started at a nursery, state minister for the interior Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani said, adding that firefighters had to break through the roof to get to trapped children after a staircase to the first-floor nursery collapsed.

Smoke was seen blowing from the mall, which was evacuated.
It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze in the shopping mall, and the interior ministry said an investigation was under way.
The Villagio Mall,
which opened in 2006, is an Italianate-themed shopping complex with a hotel, theme park and canal plied by gondolas.

Aslamualykum,

Didnt wanna post it actually coz I am quite disatrught about the whole thing. all of Qatar is in a state of shock and mourning. The saddest story IMHO is the death of two year old triplets It definitely was a sad and shocking day. We thank Allah as it could have been much much worse and we pray that Allah give strength and patience to the parents/friends/family of the deceased.

Many changes will happen now in Qatar in terms of Health and Safety. InshAllah.

Keep those affected in your duas...

The caused of it still undergoes futher investigation.
The many reason for the fault which started
from the nursery itself.
Can be cell phone over charged,flask,kettle
etc. etc.

Mall Management and Nursery owner have been arrested for the time of the investigation... The country still cant believe it. There was a gathering yesterday evening... it was so sad...

And among the
13 children and four teachers
including two firefighters as they fought the fire so hard to saves
lifes but lose their own.
