As-salaamu `alaykum

The information seems dubious. Are any of these accounts recorded in the famous biographical sources of the Sahabah such as As-Siyaar A`laam An-Nubaala of Adh-Dhahabee? Or any source more reliable than wikipedia. It'd be good to know what has been said by the scholars and historians in this respect, as the articles don't seem at all convincing, after looking at the evidence provided for them on the wikis.

And sister, where did you read that Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed's mother was pathan?

Citing Wikipedia as a source..is like citing *word of mouth* for a source..

I think it's best to bring a different *valid* and *researched* source..such as the ones brother Al-Kashmiri mentioned..or any other valid ones not mentioned...

Because you can post *anything* on Wikipedia..I can go on it right now and write about how Thomas Jefferson was an Arab man!!! from the tribes of Qahtan..not only those of Adnan...and some people would take it for the truth

Besides we're talking about *companions of Rasulullah ('alayhi assalat was salam)* and about *lineages* both of which are very sensitive topics so we should be careful

i agree with the sister, thats why i didn't comment on what wrote.
The information you provided Mashallah its great but im not sure how reliable it is, the pathan race is always great, they are strong proud and religious people who have contributed alot to islam in history and do till now But the problem with wikipedia is anyone can write anything, and when it comes to the biography of a sahaba its a very very delicate topic, since such things happened more than 1400 years ago we cant be 100% sure wat is written is corrrect.

But ALlah (swt) knows best, but my advice is not share anything from wikipedia cuz if its wrong information than ur sinning everytime someone reads the wrong information and pass it on.

The pathan and the people of the sub-continent, should be proud of themselves regardless and having an ancestor sahabad will not change anything on the day of Judgement.

Fascinating. Is this the same Umru'-ul-Qays, the famous and most talented poet?

He was a Mushrik, who died before the time of the Prophet Muhammad :saw: -

This story is on wikipedia.. and if any person looks at the homepage, it says>

"the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit."

Evidence is in the form of Qur'an, Hadith and authentic narrations from the past.

There are books written by the Salaf, one of which mentioned by akhi abu Uthmaan al Kashmiri.

We do not rely on hearsay and stories.

Edit: P.S please do not talk about how a Race is "great". This is an Islamic forum, where we are all Muslims. There is absolutely nothing to be proud about as you have no control over such a thing as your race or your country of origin. Its from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. It is expressly forbidden to take any form of pride or honour in such matters.
