Can I answer? My qualification?
I was a child for many years :)
And am still a child, my parents will swear :)

0. Children like to listen to stories from their parents and grandparents. Children want the attention and time of their parents/guardians. A place where they feel safe and find peace, a playground is for the grown up kids.

1. Children need simple things, to meddle with. Broken stuff, they enjoy that the best. It gives them the creative chance. And it does not spoil them much. It teaches them the joy, simple things in life give!

This, when one wards off the influence of ads from the young kids.

My son is 2 1/2 and right now in a phase where he likes blocks. He has always liked books but that is something we encouraged from birth, we read to him often and he will go get a book and bring it to you saying, read, read. He enjoys building with the little square blocks with letters on them right now and his toy cars. Kids go through phases as to what they like to play with. He watches a little Tv but it is either Sesame Street, Backyardagins, Dinosaur Train or Elmo.

Your answer is welcome and very much appreciated,we all have a child inside us :)

I do agree with the concept of stories for children orated by parents/grandparents, a reminiscence of my childhood.Simple beautiful stories with morals behind them, sometimes adventurous, but a large part grew up on fairy tales which were loaded with promiscuity, like Snow White ,who lived with 7 men, Cinderella who partied until midnight,Sleeping beauty who needed to be kissed by a stranger to be woken up ,I could go on and on about how some fairy tales ruined a generation's mind.Kids are pure and innocent, learn from a very tender age and their parents and grandparents are probably their first teachers. So we need innocent stories filled with morals and upright teachings ,add lots of love to it and you have a very happy and nice child inshaAllah :)
What say?

About broken stuff, lol I do agree very much,it reminded me of a childhood incident of mine, when I was gifted a lot of toys and I threw them all from the ceiling into an abandoned place where there was a sewer line behind our home.My aunt caught me and I replied,I threw it out, like a champion who had achieved something lol.
But yeah simple things keep the mind of a kid engrossed and gives them joy in simplicity and increases their creativity.

By playground things,I meant even if those things could be simulated(in a simpler form) into a child's bedroom so it could help the child in becoming physically agile?

:jazaak: for your views and ideas.

MashaAllah TabarakAllah.
What kinds of books?I mean story or that which will teach him about our world like having images of butterflies etc to attract them and also teach them in the form of a storyline. What would you like your kid to read about?Lego blocks are very creative idea, they can be dismantled as easily as they can be used to build something,it gives the kid's mind creative boost and thinking ability.I think similar concept can be used on television,I think it can be helpful in helping bring up the best in kid inshaAllah.

I also tried sometimes to tell him some Islamic stories, like story about Prophet Sulayman aleihi salah, Prophet Ibrahim aleihi salam, and as well about our beloved Prophet Mohammed salalhu aleihi wa salam, Sahabahs r.a and strong horses in their times. I think they both like the most listening of stories Mashallah.:)

if I polish the house, they want to help me cleaning the table or the floor...I spend a lot of time telling them the history of the prophets and how we have to behave in our life.the oldest one os 4 years old and I make my possible to let her write the letters of the alphabet or the numbers.she knows by heart 3 surats of Quran and being half italian is really a big goal for both of us!.the boy of the house follows what I do andhe also asks to be involved in my activities...I have not much time for myself, except when they finally do to bed....but I'm really happy:hearts:my littlest daughter,Yusra is growing up faslty, she wants my attentions and smiles at my every sight.alhamdulillah,I'm fortunate.:wasalam:

MashaAllah TabarakAllah sister. It is always heart warming to hear about children and their activities.Your mention of them playing with bread's small piece and with knife fork brought a smile to my face.As brother strive-may-I said, children love to play with simple household things as well. It's a great idea to instill good manners in children and an important part of upbringing.Plus, stories always is loved by children and they help them as well.
MashaAllah TabarakAllah for all of your children and your love for them.

Amen dear brother and Alhamdulillah that these simple ideas were usefull for you.

I aslo think that children love the most to listen stories Mashallah. I remember when my cousin was litlle and was still learning to talk and notice enviroment around him, he was always asking us to tell him some new story Mashallah :). And for example if I would tell him the story about dolphins in the sea and how they are beautiful creations of Allah, that he would ask " What are doplins", and for everything that he does not know he would ask me to explain him Mashallah.:).And Alhamdulillah this is good way that children learn things that they do not know.

Mashallah all children are soo adorable and are one of the most beautiful creatures of Allah.

they also like doing patch-work..some days ago I wrote the letters of the arabic alphabet, coloured and cut them following their shape, and I gave them a tube of glue with which they put all the letters on a big sheet.now they read the fruit of their job and they are happy.I've seen that television is only a trap which makes them busy for some minutes, but after it,they are "strange",that's why I decided not to make them watch too many cartoons.I only leave the channel whit the Mecca on air and it's all better:wasalam:

Wa Alaikumassalam WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatuhu,
:jazaak: sister for your opinions.MashaAllah tabarakAllah children are inquizitive and they learn from elders around them,so the things they hear from they or watch them doing has a lot of effect on them.Story telling has been the most old form of learning,I think,so mashaAllah tabarakAllah when they learn good things and may Allah protect them from evil.Ameen.

Ah!Patchwork like craft, that is a wonderful idea too mashaAllah tabarakAllah.Doing a job gives them a sense of accomplishment, like sticking things finishing them up or making things using block and builds confidence in them. It's a good idea to not give exposure to television nowadays, since the evil coming from watching television at that age outweighs the good, but then there are Islamic channels and cartoons and small educational cartoon clips:

the video was interesting but unfortunately my children don't know any word of english.if there was an arabic video it could be easy, because they understand it better.
the spring is coming and children like running out at the playground.
every activity which take children busy avoids them o get bored and nervous...even if as I think, the boredom is part of the life and when they have nothing to do,they go to sleep or they stay with me until they are tired.

you can be sure that children are the best way to spend your day being happy and tired at the same time.everyday I make the breakfast,I play with them, take care of them(even if they sometimes abuse of my gentleness!)and when they go to sleep I miss them.the house returns silent and maybe more empty than before...until the day after,in sh Allah!:SMILY335:

MashaAllah tabarakAllah. That sounds wonderful,a blessing and gift from Allah in this world and hereafter. It's amazing and heart warming to see how much mothers love their children and how much children love their moms.Indeed Allah is Most Merciful, who provided us with such precious gifts without asking and gave the wonderful gift of love and mercy in our hearts for each other.
