Hi Erik,

Sure you can go to the masjid. The brothers and sister will be more than welcomed. I would just tell the imam (ask someone and they will tell you who the imam is) beforehand and that you just want to observe. Nobody will look at you weird or anything..it's nothing like that...trust me

If I were you, I would go on a Friday (Muslim holy day) because there are alot of brothers and sisters and you will get a sense of the brotherhood and sisterhood that is in there. Just listen to the khutba (small lecture talk) the imam gives and afterwords they will do the prayers. You can decide to join the prayer or not.

To take shower is not importent.

if any muslim want to pray then he need to *woduu* washing hand etc...

you just only have to wear clean cloths and your body also must be clean and dress modesty.

No, it's not in Arabic. The only parts that are in Arabic are the prayers, greetings, and some references (like peace be upon him = sallalahu aleyhi wa salam). All you need to know is how to say "salaam alaikum" (and reply with "wa'alaikum salam"). If you haven't learned prayers yet, it's not a problem. If you go in and ask around or introduce yourself as a new convert, I'm sure they'd be glad to help you and explain things. If you don't know how to do wu'du, then again, I'm sure there'd be people there who would be glad to help you and explain it to you.

Absolutely you should go to the masjid. Before I reverted, my friends took me to the masjid on friday for jumuah and it was an enjoyable trip. You might feel awkward at first, but after a while the masjid becomes a home away from home. The brotherhood in a masjid is very strong where you can look around you and see brothers and sisters in religion.

I advise you that after the khutbah (speech) is done and the prayers are over, go talk to the imam (he gives the speech and leads the prayer) and tell him about your situation, he should be fully willing and glad to help you.

*Reminder* If you don't know this already, don't walk in FRONT of a person while they are praying. After the mandatory prayers, many people stand up to pray extra prayers, and you should avoid at all costs walking in front of them. If you are boxed in by praying people which happens sometimes, you have to wait for them to be done, it shouldn't take too long.
However, you can walk next to them or behind them, just not in front.

I hope you have an enjoyable experience at the masjid
