Golan Heights, seized by Israel or a gift from the late Hafez?

I believe "Syrian spring" is going to expose true colours of Al-Assad family's regime. InshAllah.

Is it true that Syrian's former tyrant, the late Hafez sold or gave away Golan Heights to Zionist Israel instead of being seized by Zionist Israel in the 6 day war? I was told the tag name "al-Assad" (the lion) was given by Syrian for his guts fighting Zionist in that fake 6 days war which eventually Hafez withdrew his troops from the Golan Heights in "defeat".

Pls provide me some facts. Jazakallah khayran.
