Halal or Haram???

This is kind of a silly question, but I was wondering whether or not it's halal for women to do sports. Of course with not-tight clothes on. I was thinking of sports as; martial art, where you can learn how to protect yourself. I know it's not a problem if it's only women, but if it's together with men, and you're instructors are all males. What then??:shymuslima1:

As-salaamu `alaykum

Generally, education in all forms, whether from sport to maths, is segregated in Islaam, and there is no room for free mixing. This is probably especially the case with martial arts. Having tried various martial arts in the past, there is almost always the need for the instructor to touch you, and correct you, so that moves are performed correctly and safely...

Secondly, most Martial Arts clothing I have seen are generally far too fitted for sisters be wearing where men can see them.

And akhi ahmed_indian, please be careful with what you say, especially in cases where a fatwa can easily be issued. You have replied, "yes it is allowed if men cannot see you", now the sister has asked two questions, the first of which you have answered, but someone can easily assume it for the second (since you didn't make it clear). They can assume that you have said it's ok so long as no other men can see you etc... In future, please specify what you are answering.

I have been stuggling with this question in mind while doing sports, so this kind of made things clearer for me.

信得過…是我的名字
Asssalam alikom;
sis I'm not suppposed to say halal or haram but the prophet pbuh said that the guilt is something which shifts inside your soul, and you deeply know that its not so right to continue doing it
I'm a martial art athlet sister, since I was 10 yo
you know when i stoped doing karate?
I'll tell
its when the team decided to affiliate woman with us......
I simply droped down all my 13 years of karate simply coz i know that its aint right
i can't be gathered with a strange woman....
Allah won't be pleased...
uuhhn uuuhn...
and after 2 years I'm back but with no mixture of course..alhamdulillah
so my advice is not to stop thinking of practicing sport but
be positive and try to look for some other sisters who have the same belief as yours! and talk to the coatch or the manager let him know that you are a group of muslim women who want to practice sport but with allah's rulings!
and about the female trainer! depends on where you live actually
if you live in the us it won't be hard to find one ..
greetings Sister

if ur teacher is a woman..then there is no problem and the class must be only for girls and not for guys..as the mod has mentioned,no mixing of genders in any class...and it should be in a closed area where men can't see u..there are some classes conducted in open area and i don't think it is ok.
