Surely, those who believe, and those who are the Jews and the Sabians and the Christians, – whosoever believed in Allaah and the Last Day, and worked righteousness, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

They claim that this Ayah equates all people, the Jews, the Muslims and others.

The response is that there is no evidence for what you [Christians] are trying to establish in this Ayah, for it equates between you, the Jews and the Sabians, while you are in agreement with the Muslims that the Jews are disbelievers since ‘Eesa [Jesus] was sent to them and they belied him.

Likewise the Sabians since a Messenger was sent to them whom they belied, they disbelieved.

Therefore if you claim that this Ayah praises your religion after Muhammad - صلى الله عليه وسلم – was sent, then it also praises the religion of the Jews, and this is false according to you as well as the Muslims. If there is no praise in it for their religion after they have altered and changed it, then likewise there is no praise in it for the religion of the Christians after they have altered and changed it. It is the same case with the Jews if they were to use this Ayah as evidence for their correctness of their religion.

Furthermore, the Christians declare Jews to be disbelievers, so if their religion is the truth, this necessitates that Jews are disbelievers, and if not, this necessitates that their religion is false. One of the two religions must be false, so there cannot be a praise for both of them in this Ayah, or that it equated between the both of them.

Therefore it becomes clear that the Ayah does not praise any of the two after they have been altered and changed, and that what is meant by the Ayah, are those who believed in Muhammad - صلى الله عليه وسلم, and the Jews who believed and followed Musa [Moses] ‘Alayhi as Salaam, those who implemented his legislation before its alteration and change, and the Christians who followed ‘Eesa, ‘Alayhi as Salaam, they are those who implemented his legislation before its alteration and change.

The Sabians are those who were upon the beautiful Haneefiyyah, such as the Arabs and others who were upon the religion of Ibraheem, Ismaa’eel and Ishaaq before its alteration and change.
