:salam2:

Alhamdulilah! Once again we are blessed with this holy month of Ramadan. Besides, fasting, we should perform as much Ibadah as possible. But in order to do this efficiently & effectively, we should be very much conscious about our diet and health otherwise we might not avail the taste of Ibadah and its blessings.

Following are some suggestions regarding maintaining good health during Ramadan Sahour an Iftar time:

SEHRI/Suhour

§ Suhour is extremely important; it provides fasters with energy for the daylight hours. It should be eaten as late as possible.
§ It is best to eat slow-digesting foods that contain lots of carbohydrates & proteins which include food with grains /seeds like barley, bran-containing foods, whole wheat, oats, egg, beans, unpolished rice, dates, almonds, banana
§ Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heart-burn, and weight problems.
§ Avoid candy, chocolate, refined wheat products, white rice, chips, or snack foods! These foods don’t provide a lot of energy, you will get hungry quickly, and very tired
.Avoid Fried and fatty foods.
.Avoid Foods containing too much sugar.
.Avoid Over-eating
.Avoid Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body would need during the day.
.Avoid Smoking cigarettes. If you cannot give up smoking, cut down gradually starting a few weeks before Ramadhan. Smoking is unhealthy and one should stop completely.

IFTAAR

Avoid gorging yourself when breaking the fast. Follow the Sunnah of our Propher Muhammad (Salalahu Alehe Wa Aalehe Wasalam), break your fast with dates and either milk, water, or fruit juice.
The body's immediate need at the time of iftar is to get an easily available energy source in the form of glucose for every living cell, particularly the brain and nerve cells. Dates and juices are good sources of sugars. At least 3 normal size Dates and juice are sufficient to bring low blood glucose levels to normal levels. Juice and soup help maintain water and mineral balance in the body.
An unbalanced diet and too many servings of sherbets and sweets with added sugar have been found to be unhealthy.
Avoid fried and spicy foods as they may cause heartburn, acidity, indigestion or constipation.
After maghrib prayer, have a healthy and balanced dinner. Do not overeat.
Take as much water or fruit juices as possible between Iftar and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.
Avoid drink tea, coffee, and soda.
Eat enough fiber to avoid constipation.
Eat juicy foods, such as watermelon, grapes and tomatoes. They will provide your body with much-needed water.

May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Taala) bless us with good health & strength to perform Ibadah and to avail the blessings of this Holy month.
