Assalamu alaykum

I have a potential convert friend who thinks that the following two aya were contradictory.

6:101 and 2:117

I told her that she was reading only part and to read on but she still doesn't get it. What about context. Help me please so I can explain better.

Assalamu alaykum,

6:101. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything.

2:117. The Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it : "Be!" - and it is.

I do not see where a person might have any misunderstanding with the above two roughly translated meanings of the Ayahs

Where is she getting her information?

If she is serious about learning Islam, then I suggest you ask her to join this website because we have a lot of reverts here and people experienced in teaching non-Muslims.

Shukran. Thank you for your reply.

She thinks that if 2:117 is fact, then why couldn't He create children without having a wife/consort.

Yes, I will tell her to join and maybe others more knowledgeable can help her. Of course, I will follow the thread so I can also learn.

Thank you for your advice.
