I would not recommend you to mention the faults of ur husband, urself or anyone else. That is not proper and correct. It is better to say" can anyone provide me detail and rulings on smoking and how to help someone to stop doing that act, etc". Especially he is ur husband and ur duah for him is even better. I have come across many stories that sisters expose things about their husbands instead they should pray for them or atleast tell the people that are worth it, the scolars

but brother i felt if i would specify that its bout him , it would be more understood...not pointing out his flaws though...i mean i need your duas for him..and help to make him understand better :shymuslima1:
but anyway hope allah subhanawata'ala forgives me if it was an act of ghibath:astag::shymuslima1:

maybe u can show him scholars fatwas on smoking. also the health issues related to it.

sometimes leavng at once is difficult. so maybe he can leave in periods.

like today smoking 10 cigs, next week 9 cig...then 5 then 2 and then Zero.

its best sister if you show him the ruling of smoking by scholars, most scholars agree we shouldnt smoke, becouse it effects our health and allah told us to stay in best health, and also the smell of smoking can cause his prayers not to be accepted as we know we have to be clean to pray.and also you can give him facts of what smokeing can do eg.lung cancer etc.get him a information pack on smokeing.and tel him to use nickotin patches, it helps the craveing to smoke go away.

it may be helpful for you to find islamic evidences that muslims shouldn't smoke. maybe he will read these evidences and be convinced. if not enough, maybe you, your husband and your imam should discuss this matter together. keep in mind sister, that smoking is an addiction and is very difficult to give up right away. which means he may mess up a few times on his attempts to quit. he should make du'a to help him in this battle. i have even read a fatwa once, about a wife complaining about her husband's smoking and the shaykh said that if he persists in smoking after being provided evidences, that the wife has a good reason to divorce him. i don't know if that ruling is correct but that's how complicated smoking can become for a married couple.

bro, i dont think its backbiting. she was just seeking help for her husband.

many ppl ask questions to ulama regarding the sins their family members do, but no scholar tells: "u r backbiting."
