Assalamu alaikum
One serious problem in preventing the honour killings is, that the victims are usually women of the family of the murderer. So the family members of the victim usually make use or misuse of their right to pardon, because they are themselves the murderers.
We have had a discussion on that issue in Pakistan but like always, the mullahs were on the wrong side. Can somebody share, how this issue is handled in other countries?
The immediate reason of this thread was this news about a man who had killed his two sisters. Previously, he had killed his own mother but was pardoned by the family members.
