:salam2: i do believe in respecting our parents and it is very important. But in regards to the first story. i feel the husband should not favour his wife over his mom or vice versa. Cause i feel a man has to be balanced. A wife cant be a mother and a mother cant be a wife. These are different roles and should be handled differently. A good son and husband is who understand both the needs of his mom and wife.

that's true sister basicofislam. i've heard the story from many muslim scholars before. and truly it is sad. she only wanted to partake in the happiness of her family. he bought gold worth of 20,000 but wouldn't allow his mother 100. and what's more sad is that his wife only wanted her back in order for her to babysit and take care of their child so they can do whatever and go wherever.
