:salam2:
There is plenty of food supplied to us by Allah Wa Ta'ala to feed
everyone on this Planet, even the poorest of the poor. Unfortunately
hunger is due to the wastefulness of some people, mostly the rich
and the selfish who try their very best to keep some people/nations
poor and desolate.
Very small examples of food waste:
"More than three million tons of wasted food are being dumped every
year by households - about one third of what they buy, Government
researchers have found."
"A Sunday Mirror investigation has found major chains dump enough
food to feed 6.3million people a year."
"Customers in the food court of Hong Kong's upscale Festival Walk
mall line up for a late breakfast. Many of them will not be able to
finish what is on their plate. The mall produces about 1.8 tons of
food waste every day."
"Japan disposes of about 20 million tons of food waste a year, five
times as much as world food aid to the poor in 2007."
"A new study shows that for every five pounds of fish caught by U.S.
commercial fisheries, one pound is dumped – dead, dying and wasted.
Each year, U.S. commercial fishing operations throw away more than
one million metric tons of fish, an amount equivalent to 28 percent
of all commercial landings and more than all of the fish landed on
the East and West coasts combined."
"The Gulf of Mexico shrimp fishery ranked worst of all, discarding
more than 472,000 metric tons, or one billion pounds of fish, nearly
half of the total waste in U.S. fisheries."
"By Stefan Korshak, Kiev- Tens of thousands of tons of grain are
dumped into the Black Sea every 24 hours, and Ukraine's booming
agricultural industry has taken close to a half-billion dollar hit,
because of a failed law intended to hold down food prices."
"Farmers in the developing world are abandoning their traditional
crops in favor of raising animals to sell to meat-eaters in the
first world. This means that, in some of the world's poorest
nations, grain and land that could be used to feed the hungry are
instead being fed to animals who end up on the dinner plates of the
rich."
I could go on for hours giving examples of why there is no or not
enough food for the poor, but what is the point!
Allah Wa'Ta'ala supplies, but humans take and destroy.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen
