Jaah- love of being revered, worshipped, glory
*
it is a very common disease of the heart
*
but unique in the sense that it is very difficult to identify, to understand
*
arrogance is the root cause of all evils, and also this
*
riya is part of jaah
*
wealth corrupts and destroys but it is nothing as compared to the pursuit of jaah
*
wealth has no intrinsic value. we associate value with it and that is what makes it imp
*
wealth cannot make ppl love you
*
jaah gives the ability to acquire what wealth denies, i.e ppl's love
*
these are all aspects of jaah--being able to win over hearts and minds, being admired, loves and being able to influence lives of others, admiring oneself and being admired by others
*
jaah is the result of the idol "hawa" within us and also due to narcissism
*
we are all narcissist, we stand infront of the mirror to admire ourselves when no one else is looking
*
we dress up and comb our hair not to look presentable, want attention
*
those who are intelligent are subtle abt it, but they are not that intelligent because they also want the same thing
*
arrogance of two types- mentally and physically
*
four types of ppl, arrogant externally and internally, arrogant internally but externally subtle abt it, appear arrogant but internally humble, humble inside out
*
some ppl following Ubai r.a. when Omer r.a. saw this said this is humiliating for the one who follows and fitnah for the one who is being followed
*
Aisha r.a when saw a group of ppl who were had head down and walked in a particular humble manner said that There is no person who practises more selfdenial than Omer but when he talks ppl can hear him, when he walks he walks fast, when he hits he makes sure it hurts
*
scholars also face this danger, ppl want their attention, nothing more intoxicating than this
*
aakhira is only for those who do not seek alow- loftiness in this world
*
more humble you are the more will Allah love you
*
Prophet pbuh said some ppl have no worth in the eyes of ppl but if they swear by Allah, He fulfills it for them
*
dua- Allahoma Ahyeeni miskeenan...miskeen not he who is poor but he who has no one but Allah Taala
*
when ppl are arrogant, they challenge the attribute of Allah
“Remember more often the destroyer of pleasures – death”
