It depends too...is it from an islamic bankin o from a conventional banking..... cuz if its from a normal conventional bank i guess its haram.. as it is not in compliance with islamic shariya..

If you mean that the money is gaining interest by having it the bank it is haram. If it is an Islamic bank that it is gaining interest on it is haram as well. Just because it is an Islamic bank does not mean that it follows the shariyah. It could only be an Islamic bank by name. If it is gaining interest it is haram no matter the institution used Islamic or non Islamic.

Waalaikumsalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Sahih Muslim Book 010, Number 3880:
'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) (Allah be pleased with him) said that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) cursed the one who accepted interest and the one who paid it I asked about the one who recorded it, and two witnesses to it. He (the narrator) said: We narrate what we have heard.
Sahih Muslim Book 010, Number 3881:
Jabir said that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses, and he said: They are all equal.
From the above it is stated that accepting interest is haraam.

If the profit you were saying is interest, then yes it is haraam to receive it.

Can we give the interest from banks to the needy one?

Praise be to Allaah.
If there is a person who deals in riba (interest/usury), then repents and wants to get rid of the money he gained from riba, it is permissible for him to give it to the poor in order to get rid of it. A person can also do likewise if an amount of riba is put into his account by the bank, but this is not counted as sadaqah (charity), because Allaah is Good and only accepts that which is good and pure. As for continuing to deal in riba, this is not permissible, because it is one of the major sins (kabaa’ir), and taking it is tantamount to challenging Allaah and His Messenger, even if one is dealing in riba in order to give it to the poor.

In Islamic Banking, you need to have more understanding on it. Hiba which means gift are given out. The hiba is very different from riba/usury as the person who banks in are not guaranteed to receiving the hiba at any rate. Hiba are given out on the bank's goodwill.

InshaAllah, I hope this helps.

Some Good answers above. I will just add to the above. Just ask your heart. Does it feel content? I wouldnt personally take any money if it didnt come as a result of my mehnah (labour or work) & was a result of some % guaranteed by my bank. Islam is an easy & straightforward way of life. (& Allah knows best)

The issue of Riba is clear cut, and Riba is mentinoed about 25 times in the Quran. As you can see it is clearly given a lot of importance (compare to alcohol mentioned only 3 times?).
Allah SWT says "Those who eat Riba, Allah and his messenger will wage a war against them".

That is very clear cut to me.
Verses of the Quran concerning Riba.

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Baqarah 275-281

275. Those who eat Ribâ (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitân (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Ribâ (usury)," whereas Allâh has permitted trading and forbidden Ribâ (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Ribâ (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allâh (to judge); but whoever returns [to Ribâ (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein.

276. Allâh will destroy Ribâ (usury) and will give increase for Sadaqât (deeds of charity, alms, etc.) And Allâh likes not the disbelievers, sinners.

277. Truly those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

278. O you who believe! Be afraid of Allâh and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribâ (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers.

279. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allâh and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums).

280. And if the debtor is in a hard time (has no money), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay, but if you remit it by way of charity, that is better for you if you did but know.

281. And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allâh. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari, 2.468, Narrated Samura bin Jundab, r.a.

He speaks of in a dream related to the Prophet (SAW) that there is a river of blood and a man was in it, and another man was standing at its bank with stones in front of him, facing the man standing in the river. Whenever the man in the river wanted to come out , the other one threw a stone in his mouth and caused him to retreat back into his original position. The Prophet peace and blessings be upon him was told that these people in this river of blood were people who dealt in Riba (usury).
