Asalaamu'Alykum,

May Allah ease your suffering and make you much, much stronger in the end. Ameen.

I am going to include part of a Fatawa by Shaykh Ibn Uthmain (May Allah have mercy on him):

Answer:

Most people who commit suicide do not, in reality, do so because of outer circumstances or problems. A person who kills himself resembles someone who fles from oppressive heat only to seek refuge in unbearable fire. Had he been patient, Allah Almighty would have helped him to endure his hardship. And about this world, there is a rule that we should never forget: It is impossible for things to remain as they are.

Alhamdulilah

The two key bits are being patience and perserverance. I don't want to overflood this post, so i post again in relation to the two points.

BRother, the reason that you are not abel to stop doing your sins is because you can't stop committing sins by yourself, you need to ask Allah Ta Alla to help you.

This is what I prefer:

Do 2 Rakat Istrikah Salat, then do 2 Rakat Tuabah Salat, and then when you are finished go into Sajdah and that's how you should make your dua.

Start out by:

Prasing Allah. Start with Zikr, and be sincere about it, don't just let the words come out of your mouth, but let it enter your heart.

I prefer: (Allahumma) La Illallah, Subhanaka Innee Kunthum Menaz Zwalemeen

Oh Allah! You alone are the only one to eb worshipped, Glory be to you, and I have only wronged myself.

Other Zikrs: Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Illaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar!

(all together, also used in Salatul Tasbeeh)

And then say a Durud. After that, praise Allah in your own words, and thank him. Thank him that he allows you to still live on so you can repent for your sins, and then praise him more, Oh Allah! In my heart I surely beleive in your Oness, even when I cannot see you, your angels, the Jinn, or Jannah and Jahanam. Even when I cannot see these things nor I cannot see you, I still beleive with no doubt that you exist, and that you are the only Lord and you are the only one to be worshipped.

State your problem to Allah brother. And let yourself cry brother, let you mouth start shaking uncontrolalaby, and let the tears soak your face. And remember brother, that if you TRULY regret doing your sins, you shall CERNTAINLY cry to Allah to forgive you and help you.

And then brother, cry to Allah Ta Alla to forgive you, and cry to Allah to make you stop doing the sins you do.

Ask Allah to:

a)DEstroy the evil desires of your nafs COMPLETELY
b)to never have any wet dreams of women
c)to never let Waswas that associates with Fitnah to penetrate your mind
d)to never let yourslef to think about thos evil things
e)to make you to ALWAYS forget those evil things, and to make you NEVER remmber them, whether your in your bathroom or anywhere else, and no matter how AHRD you try to remember them.

f)to make your Iman never dwindle or fade
g)tp maek your Eman always strong, and to always remmber you
h)to make you always remember that you do not want to commit a sin because hhe knows what you are doing

i)make you to NEVER look at those Haraam pics and things, and to maek you alwasy divert you gaze,

j)to never masterabte, and to stop if you ever ahd

k)to forgive you for doing Zinah if you have

more later bro I gotta go I'm being watched starting now.

Asalaamu'Alykum,

Here is another Fatawa in relation to Repentance:

Repentance & Rulings Regarding It

Repentance is to return from disobeying Allah Almighty to obeying Him. Repentance is loved by Allah Almighty:

Truly, Allâh loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves [Quran 2:222]

Repentance is compulsory upon every believer:

O you who believe! Turn to Allâh with sincere repentance! [Qur'an 66:8]

Repentance leads to success:

And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. [Qur'an 24:31]

And success is when someone gets what he wants and is saved from what he dreads

Allah Almighty forgives the sins of one who repents sincerely, no matter how great or how many of the sins.

Allah Almighty says:

Say: "O 'Ibâdî (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh, verily Allâh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Az-Zumar 39:53]

O brother sinner, do not despair your Lord's mercy, for the door of repentance will remain open until the sun rises from the west. The Prophet :saw: said:

"Indeed, Allah extends His Hand during the night to forgive the sinner by day; and He extends His Hand during the day to forgive the sinner by night: until the sun rises from the west. [Muslim no.2759 and Ahmad no. 4/395,404.]

Many are they who have repented from a great number of grave sins, and Allah Almighty has forgiven them:

And those who invoke not any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such person as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse - and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful [Al-Furqan 25:68-70]

Sincere repentance includes five conditions:

1) Sincerity for Allah Almighty, in that the objective of it is the Face of Allah Almighty, His rewards, and salvation from His punishment.

2) Remorse for performing the act of disobedience, such that one grieves for having done it and sincerely hopes to never do it again.

3) Abandoning the act of disobedience immediately. In cases where the rights of Allah Almighty are concerned, it must be avoided if it is an act that is unlawful, or one must hasten to fulfill it if one has forsaken an obligation.

In the cases related to creatures, one must return that right to its owner, or seek his forgiveness and pardon.

4) The firm resolution to never return to that act of disobedience in the future.

5) Repentance must take place before it will not be accepted, be it the presence of death or the sun rising from the west.
Allah Almighty says:

And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent" [An-Nisa 4:18]

The Prophet :saw: said,

"Whoever repents before the sun rises from the west, Allah will accept his repentance." [Muslim no.2703]

O Allah! Guide us to a sincere repentance, and accept from us (our good deeds); verily, You are All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Subhanalmalikul qudus! look we all make mistakes, and even if you have done the worst things in life you can repent and allah says: do not despair of the mercy of your lord. Suicide is not the answer and definitely not the way to paradise. do you want to end up in hell- eternal for life? or do you want to sacrifice what you have now and earn eternal paradise? of course we all want to attain paradise and each and everyone of us is tested with something. you are tested with your sex addiction, others are tested by losing family members- my cousin lost all of her family members. all and they were 12 people including her mother and father. now she's the only one who's alive. some are tested with love, others are tested with poverty, some are tested with diseases and pains, others are tested with wealth and health. you see the list keeps going on and on. but if we decide that we cannot be patient- then what will our ending be like? i'm serious here brother. i know I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW that you are going through a tough time but you CAN'T GIVE UP. you can't despair of the mercy of life. you let your self believe that shaytan can defeat you, but he can't- not if you don't let him. but it's up to you. make dua day and night. read duas that protect people from shaytan. come on now- don't give up. it breaks my heart to know that you give up but don't! please dont! i'm begging. we care about you because you're our brother, we want for you as we want paradise for ourselves. do whatever it takes to defeat shaytan but don't EVER EVER LET SHAYTAN TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING.don't be fooled by his stupidity. you are strong enough, and yes you so don't you dare say no. you are strong enough to beat him. so do it! please! for your own good. i'm begging you bro. don't give up.

I've been in similar situation as you in the past, in terms of behavior and bad deeds, although not as extreme, and I never had suicidal thoughts (thank god).

From my experience, I think much of these "behaviors you mentioned" for me came from partial laziness, the type of crowd I associated myself with, the things I did (smoke cigarettes, play poker at the casino, stay up late with friends, not listening to my parents, not praying etc...) It just led me toward a carefree/lazy lifestyle. It made me avoid responsibilities. I remember always telling myself "I will be pious in the future, I believe in Allah, I can always revert back to my religion, this is just an experimental phase". I just didn't want to abide by Islamic way of life. I always made an excuse so I can continue to indulge myself in stupid habits.
It is very easy to do a bad deed, compare to a good one. However, that's not saying abstaining from bad deeds is always difficult. For some people it is very easy almost like second nature, once they have submitted their will to Allah.

Somehow I stumbled across TTI on youtube, I began to read about it more. I began watching lectures by Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zaik, and others. It reminded me of how I used to be, I was very pious at one point. I always read Quran after Maghreb and Isha, and I remember how wonderful it was. (I'm not sure how many people here read the Quran, but personally for me it feels like it calms my soul and cleanses my spirit). So once again I began to imitiate my former life style, and MaSallah I've been at peace since then. I feel much stronger and closer to Allah.
So Brother, I would suggest that whatever entices you for temptation that you slowly but surely try with extreme effort to abstain from it. In the meantime I hope you can associate yourself with good company (hopefully fellow Muslim brothers). Start praying, even if you can't pray 5, start with 3. Try reading the Quran for 20 or 30 minutes (if you don't understand arabic, you can get an English translated version of it). Go to the mosque more often, also learn about Islam, learn about our heritage, it can be very inspiring. Most importantly learn about Allah and ask for prayer and his guidance.

Hopefully I was helpful.

P.S. Thank you everyone on TTI. You guys are so wonderful, it is truly inspiring to read these threads and listen to fellow Muslim's story. It is such lively community here. May Allah bless you all! The more I visited TTI the more inspired I became. I'm a born Muslim, but I stopped practicing for a year or so. Allah has guided me back to himself, and I'm truly grateful!

Salam ala kum,

Just a couple of quick points

The Authority of Anas
• I heard the messenger of Allah say : Allah the Almighty has said : "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as its
• Regarding being pious, start with 1 good act a day, ie Pray 1 salah a day for 2 weeks then increase that to 2 for another 2 weeks and so on.
• Fasting will help you get over your addictions,
• Try to recite Ayat Kursi & the last 2 surahs of the Quran as much as possible-
• Finally remember we are all tested in different ways and the path to Paradise is not an easy one, Paradise is surrounded with hardship, while Hell is veiled with wimps & desires.

If I can help in any way, or you just want to talk please let me know
Jazallah

Assalamu alaikum,

The advice given by others is very good, I will make dua for you. I do NOT however agree with those who say you should just get married. In my opinion, this would be in no way fair to any woman until you have sought treatment for your troubles, both mental and spiritual.
