Seven people alive today were born in the year 1900.
Officially since the time of Adam (AS), people have lived for hundreds of years and remained young, fresh, healthy and full of energy. We know some of the Prophets lived to over a hundred years old. The Prophets Adam, Idris, Nuh and Sheth (AS) lived for hundreds of years. The later Prophets Ismail, Ishaq, Musa and Harun, Ayyub, Yusuf, Yaqub, Ibrahim and Salih (AS) lived to at least 100 years.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was given the opportunity to live to over a hundred years if he wished to take half his Ummah to Jannah or the prescribed time (of 63 years) if he was to take all of his Ummah with him to Jannah; he chose the latter.
In the present era, many Non Muslims have lived to the age of 120 years or a little more, but differently to earlier times; in poor health, very sick, in need of constant attention and unable to help themselves at all. In many ways longevity brings little or no benefit to the one who is so old other than distress and reduced bodily functions and perhaps even a longing for death itself.
