Asalama alakum, knowledge is an important thing when it comes to islam. Sometimes when one feels down or feels that their iman is weakening, the best thing one can do is seek knowledge. Sometimes when i start reading books and start learning i feel something i never felt before. Knowledge soothes the heart and makes ur iman grow.
Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid
Seeking knowledge of the religion helps achieve Taqwa (fear) from Allah and increases Iman. Allah said, what translated means, "It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah." [35:28].
Therefore, how can those who have knowledge in the rules of the Shari'ah (Islamic Law), the meaning and implications of Ash-Shahadatayn (the two testimonies, there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah), the wisdom behind the various rules of the religion with regards to the permissible and the impermissible, the life story of the Messenger of Allah and knowledge in what will occur after death, such as the torment in the grave, the hardships of the Day of Resurrection, the bounties in Paradise and the torment in Hellfire, how can they be compared to those who do not have knowledge in such aspects? Those latter ones only blindly follow and imitate others, "Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who know not?’" [39:9].
