Highly recommended to watch starting from 1 of 14 found at Yvonne Ridley

"She was the chief reporter of the Sunday Express at the time, having spent nearly 10 years in Fleet Street working for several newspapers including The Sunday Times, The Observer, Daily Mirror, the News of the World and Independent on Sunday. Ridley set out as a regional journalist more than 35 years ago in her native North East. She has also worked as a broadcaster, producer and presenter on programmes for BBC TV and radio, CNN, ITN and Carlton TV travelling to Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine. A founder member of Women in Journalism, she was also a promoter of women’s rights, and is also a founder member of the Stop The War Coalition.

She was captured by the Taliban on an undercover assignment in Afghanistan."

Below In 11 of 14 Sister Yvonne is answering questions from the audience in New Zealand from Muslims and Non Muslims. This question was regarding the media and terrorism.

"As for journalist, these are very troubled times, and finding good journalists is very very difficult but there are a few, but what I would say to you all is to go onto the internet, and find them, and learn to trust your sources, and try to seek corroboration.

The media has done a great disservice to the Muslim community around the globe."

One of the things that she recounted in an interview a few years back that really stood out to me was her experience with an Afghan local (old man) who visited her. She said she was overwhelmed by something (her words), an aura, a presence, she now understands to be noor. I always wonder what, to a non-Muslim at the time, that would have looked and felt like.

Mash'Allah Sister, yes this noor she spoke was one of the many accounts of her experience that I was fascinated. Her description of the strength and intelligence of the Afghan women and how pious these men are, so much even a woman's underwear hanging to dry they fear will cause them to have impure thoughts, or when she lifted up her dress to show she had no weapons the men turned and ran. And the Afghan's punishment to her for cursing and swearing at them and spitting at them in jail, was to with hold her phone call to her daughter. I've known of men (Non Muslim) who have been very violent toward women for less then this behavior toward them. They showed great restraint toward her and this tells a lot considering what we in the West are led to believe. I am so very saddened to hear the village she was at (or any parts) was bombed for 3 days straight and now parts of Afghanistan has porn selling in shop windows. Sister Yvonne's personal story certainly gives much light. It is unfortunate more people don't listen to her story but seems like we won't find this unedited story on any major news media like 20/20 or 60 minutes etc any time soon.
