in the Quran question

:salam2:

In the Quran,
Allah subhanna wata3alla, addresses the prophet PBUH, for example:

قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ [١٠٩:١]

Now my question is our position supposed to be as if it is to us.

سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى [٨٧:١

Of course this ayah is more clearer because we are commanded to do this.

do we take the ayat as if Allah swt, is addressing us or is it He was just addressing the rasool pbuh?

I hope I am not confusing

to Allah we belong
some verses were revealed for prophet (pbuh) and his society but they do have a general meaning which is applicable to all of us.

eg. verses were revealed regarding prophet's wife aisha (ra) when she was slandered but it has general meaning that no chaste woman should be slandered otherwise punishment waits for him.

jazaakum allahu khairan, I was studying Arabic grammar where the teacher mentioned this as a general rule. And he only mentioned the ayat that are not so specific to the rasool PBUH. like 87:1.

Perhaps what brother ayman said is the best advice, I just didn't know how to even ask a question about this. So I wasn't able to see if scholars have addressed such a question.

As I see in tafsir, there is more clarity in the ayah, with respects to hadith and reason of revalation.

As Salaam Alaikum,

well, most of the verses that have Qul ( قل ) are mostly addressed to the Prophet (SAW)
and the other general rulings and commands are for all of mankind.
If you understand the words of the Qur'an , it becomes quite clear- like which verses are addressed to whom.
i think everybody should try to understand the Holy Qur'an, reading it with translation in the respective languages.... It really gives you a broad and deep understanding of the Ayaat...
