Salam

I injured my knee - how should I do the part of the prayer that requires kneeling - should I bow or just stand? I can stand and walk, but to kneel on my knee is excruitiatingly painful.

salaam alikom

you can pray standing when it comes to bow down you can have a chair behinde you and sit on it and move or lean forward ( As making Sajood bow), and pray the tashuad while sitting... till your knee heal, and able to bow down

here is the closest image i could draw.

Salaams

One of my husbands Aunties cant bend down - so she sits on a chair and just leans forward for the rukoo and sajood...this is allowed insha'allah for those who cant pray the full way due to health reasons....its valid prayer alhamdulillah.

Hope the knee gets better soon insha'allah!

you should stand & bend(rokoo)so long as you can, other wise salat will not be correct, then when it comes to sojood, then just sit on chair, till u come to the next rak'aa ,go up and stand again
by the way,we always say it like this to our patients, iam an orthopedician, for any help, inshaAllah

Salaam,

We have a professor here at my school (who is also an MD) and he does his salat in a chair. It is too difficult for him to stand as well so an Imam told him to simply sit upright when we are all standing. When we do Rukooh he bends slightly at the waist, when we do sujood he bends more at the waist.

So if standing is too difficult the scholars have stated you can do salat sitting. If sitting is to difficult they have said you can pray laying on your right side. I am off to find the hadith relating to this.

Wasalaam
