Here's what I don't get, after Hajar posted that beautiful information regarding birthdays, how can you guys just sit there and think that it's not haram to celebrate birthdays! When it comes to Islam, it's not about opinion, it's about facts. So don't just sit there and follow something just because you think[/b] it's right, research it and follow it then. Alhumdulillah, Hajar has saved us from that task from what he has posted, yet we sit here blindly following our desires STILL thinking it's ok to celebrate birthday. No wonder our Ummah is so pathetic...

Assalamu alaykum.

Hajar is a girl's name.

The Prophet Ibrahim's Wife's name was Hajar. May Allahs peace and blessings be upon them

i really wish that i hadn't opened this thread. now that i have recieved clarification, i need to follow it. this deen is a knowledge based deen and once you know, you follow, got it?

:salam2:
I know what you mean. But, it seems Allah makes it happen one way or the other.

I tried getting around an issue once (about dating). Then, the next day, I was reading the Qur'an and found the answer to the issue. I said "DANG!" and knew I had to follow it :D

From my opinion, its ok to celebrate b day as maybe a small cake with family and friends just to be happy that you were born today, but partying and throwing away tons of money wud be wrong its better to give that money to poor for Allah (swt) ... i think b day should be a day where we pray to Allah (swt) to make our religion more stronger for the next year and years to come

well we all know that imitating the none muslims is Haram. and also innovation is haram. so the question we should ask amongest our self is, is celebrating a birthday an innovation or imitation of the none muslims?

this is a question everybody can answer for himself. i am not a religions scholar but from my opinion we can celebrate birthdays as long as we don't make it a religious celebration. or we don't celebrate like the none muslims. everybody knows how he celebrates, if you light a candle then that is imatating the none muslims.

i ask those who say this is haram, to show how this can be haram, if i don't emitate the none muslims, or make it religious celebration.

Assalaamu'Alaykum,

We have had many thread's on whether celebrating birthday's is allowed or not, but we should be aware that the Haraam has been made clear and the Halaal has been made clear (and some doubtful matters).

Here is a few links to Fatawa's already posted on this subject,

And also, please Brothers and Sisters we all need to be very careful on posting our own opinions on such matters,

Insha'Allaah, this should be the end of the matter and my going to close the thread.

Walaykum Salaam.
