Is it Halal or Haram...?

So the question is this.
I am a new Muslim as some might know from previous threads, about one month now.

I met with a Sheikh today, because someone told me he is a good man and teacher. Mashallah.

He is good, and I want to have him as my mentor/wakeel in Islam. He is 70 years old.

So the question is this: Is it allowable to spend time with a man of this age, for him to teach me, even if no one is around? I read in the quran of all the ppl that can be left alone with a muslimah, and one of them was the "Old slave that has lost his desire"....

Im sure I could have asked him but i forgot to before I left the masjid~!! lol
Jazakallah Khyer !!

:salam2:
well I don't know what to say my sister now but you can use this web and ask your question ....
http://www.islam-qa.com/index.php?ln=eng
and you have to know if the sheikh is really good teacher and he follow the quran and the sunna because there are many parties in Islam as the shia which you have met them ....
but as you are new you don't know how to do it .... so you have to ask
how you can trust that sheikh or any sheikh in the future....
