Is it haram to look at face/hands of women?

Assalam alakum

So is it haram to look parts of women which they are not obliged to cover, like face and hands ? (i dont know exactly, if its a must for them to cover face and hands)

Because sometimes, if you try to abstain even from looking face of women, others might say ''If you shouldnt look even at face, then why its not obliged them to cover face ?'' So in this case, you dont know what to tell them and maybe they will think you are going too extreme. So i would like to know whats the case

First of all, there are differences of opinion regarding the face and hands. Some say women should cover and some say it is not obligatory. Looking at the face of a woman sometimes is done by accident and sometimes to see who it is, but after the first look, you should not be continuously looking and ogling. This is haraam. Those who say that 'If you shouldnt look even at face, then why its not obliged them to cover face' is a silly argument and one from Shaytaan. Just because Allah hasn't obliged something (again there is Ijtihad on this matter) does not mean you are allowed to abuse it. There is a permit to looking at the face of a woman (marriage purposes, medical reasons etc) but one should not go beyond the permit. Again, Allah knows best.
