is it wrong to ask a hafiz for intercession?

basically my friend from the masjid had jokingly asked a hafiz to intercede on his behalf if he were to require intercession, now he feels that he has committed bid'ah or shirk because only the prophets, the martyrs and scholars can intercede and your good deeds can intercede too. Now he was only joking when he asked and the hafiz joked back and said yea sure if you give me £10 every week you live. now he is really scared and constantly calling me to see if I have found out if he has committed a sin please help me. Thank you very much. This forum is full of intellectual and smart people may allah bless you all.

Assalaam walaikum,

I am not a scholar.

Common sense prevails. We have supplication in Islam. It is dua. We do not have intercession.

We have a direct line of communication 24/7. It is prayer and remembrance.
We can ask and make supplication.

We not not need intercession. Why would anyone ask for intercession when it is written that Allah is closer to us than our own jugular vein. We have a direct one-on-one relationship with our Creator.

Ask for the ten dollars or so. That is just wrong.

Its very dangerous to say these things even in joke ,death waits for no one.He should ask Allah for forgiveness and Allah is the Most Merciful.
Intercession in this world can be of your deeds ,that Allah has given an example of,when some people got inside a cave their path was blocked, they asked Allah for help and mentioned their deeds due to which they were saved .As far as thee hafiz, peer, anyone they first have no idea when will they die.And for the hafiz to return the joke in that way is not suitable, people these days take religion as a joke when it is not.Prophet Muhammad never lied even in a joke.
