IS stone pelting an un-Islamic act?Back ground- since many years Kashmiris are throwing stones on police, paramiliatary forces, armed forces as protest : similarly in palestine you see such incidents ;Please guide the people with authentic hadiths is it permissible in islam or not?

Greater kashmir news paper quoted Jamiat-i-Ahlihadis president jammu and kashmir, india Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah today quoted a hadith, saying stone pelting was forbidden by Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Some weeks earlier, SSP Srinagar had also quoted the sayings of the Prophet (SAW) to declare stone pelting as un-Islamic.
Addressing a Friday prayer meeting at a Gaw Kadal Masjid, here, Moulana Showkat said, “How can we as Muslims declare lawful what our revered Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has declared unlawful? If anyone has argument in the light of holy Quran and Sunnah to prove stone pelting as a lawful act in Islam, he should come forward with it, I promise that I will take my words back and tender an apology.”
Moulana Showkat said, “When we aver that our struggle is for freedom for Islam, how can we then ignore the commandments of our holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).” He said lakhs of people last year came on streets and demonstrated peacefully, demanding freedom. “No one threw a single stone. The government then resorted to force to crush us and youth reacted with stone pelting. Though it (stone pelting) was a reaction to repressive measures, still it cannot be described as lawful in light of Islamic teachings,” he said.
Moulana Showkat quoted from the book of Al-Adab (Good manners) in Sehi Bukhari Sherief. Abdullah bin Mughaffal Al-Muzani narrated: the Prophet (SAW) forbade the throwing of stones (with the thumb and the index or middle finger), and said: “It neither hunts a game nor kills (or hurts) an enemy, but it gouges out an eye or breaks a tooth.”
SSP Srinagar, Afhadul Mujtaba had quoted the same Hadith during a press conference, trying to make a point against the protesting youth.
Moulana Showkat clarified that the Jamiat Ahlihadees was struggling, is struggling and would continue to struggle against ‘Indian occupation of the state’ through peaceful means.
The valley has been witnessing stone pelting on police and CRPF troops during the past several months. However, the youth say police uses brute force on peaceful protests which then triggers stone pelting, a view seconded by Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, yesterday.
Geelani said heavy presence of troops in the valley was responsible for stone pelting incidents. He said it was very hard for a youth to control his anger when troops kill innocents, molest the women and put people behind the bars. The Dukhtaran-e-Milat chief Asiya Andrabi has said that declaring stone-pelting as an un-Islamic was anti-freedom movement statement. She said people in Kashmir, fighting for their freedom, have no other means but to pelt stones to register protest.
Without naming Moulana Showkat, she said the government has hired the services of some leaders to deal with the stone pelting, “which is the only means with the people to register their protest.”
“These leaders are doing so to realize their petty interests,” she alleged.
The Jamiat had approached then Governor, S K Sinha, for allotment of land for establishing their university. It has recently decided to approach the National Conference-Congress alliance government for allowing it to construct the university.
Indirectly referring to Moulana Shah, Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi, head of the Islamic Students League, said opposing stone pelting amounts to helping the anti-movement people.
He said the people who are organising seminars and supporting stone pelting people of Palestine people, are opposing stone pelting in Kashmir.
These people were in the CC, during Amarnath land row last year when more than 60 people were killed by the forces, Bakshi said adding now they are issuing statements against stone pelting by youths who are protesting against killings of innocent youths and continued detention of thousands of youths.
