:salam2:
I have an idea, however I am not sure it is a wise one.
I live in the USA, as you know everything is commercial orientated. As you already know the real estate is getting depreciated rapidly. There are many locations available to rent to establish any type of organization.
Having said that, my idea is to open a location, not big, about the size of a cafe. The main purpose is to make dawaa and provide islamic information, literature as well as videos. I don't want the videos to have any cost but a very small deposit, just so the person can take care of it and return it. The primary focus will be on Quran and Sunnah.
There is a lot of people who claim they are muslim here but do not have the right understandings and teachings of Islam. These people, I know will aquire benefit of such organization.
There is a lot of non muslims that would get discouraged to enter a masjid. Something about the atmosphere here in the US, you know, religion is something as a hobby or a past time. Or something that if you want to learn you go read or buy at book at bookstore about it. So in opening the oppurtunity for them to go to a small location and be able to obtain information without paying a penny for it about Islam, they would feel comfortable and more inclined to act. Basically, it would be convenient for them to get literature about Islam.
With the amount of videos about Islam today, I am sure there can be a nice size collection of learned muslims explaining Islam that I could obtain. Of course, with their permission to use and distribute their lectures.
Lastly, I can direct more students of knowledge to come here to TTI. Where they can ask questions and colaborate with the many muslims of the world.
These are my concerns:
Is it ok or wise to do so?
As for funding, I don't feel it would be a problem.
Would it be a bad idea to add like free wifi. Offer for sale coffee and tea to help cover operational costs?
Of course, I am mindfull of the masjid and it's function and great qualities. what I am try to do, is provide an environment where people would not get discouraged to get information about Islam.
